The Greek "White Knight" Emerges: Putin To Give Athens €5 Billion For Advance Gas Pipeline Fees
With Greece teetering on the edge of insolvency and forced to raid pension and most other public funds, ahead of another month of heavy IMF repayments which has prompted even the ECB to speculate Greece should introduce a parallel "IOU" currency, a white knight has appeared out of nowhere for Greece, one who may offer $5 billion in urgently needed cash. The white knight is none other than Vladimir Putin.
As Reuters adds, during a visit to Moscow earlier this month, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras expressed interest in participating in a pipeline that would bring Russian gas to Europe via Turkey and Greece.
Under the proposed deal, Greece would receive advance funds from Russia based on expected future profits linked to the pipeline. The Greek energy minister said last week that Athens would repay Moscow after 2019, when the pipeline is expected to start operating.

Not sure that's a good economic decision for Putin considering the state of affairs. But hey what the hell maybe Greece will fight with the russki's in WW111 or that's the hope anyway.
Russia would love to see no pipelines from the Middle east to Europe.

Russia denied on Saturday a German media report suggesting that it could sign a gas pipeline deal with Greece as early as Tuesday which could bring up to five billion euros into Athens' depleted state coffers.

German magazine Der Spiegel, citing a senior figure in Greece's ruling Syriza party, said the advance funds could "turn the page" for Athens, which is now struggling to reach a deal with its creditors to unlock new loans to avert bankruptcy.
"No, there wasn't (any agreement)," said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in comments made to Business FM radio and quoted by RIA news agency.

Hmmmm how long until the US will "liberate" Greece the same way the US did to Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan and many other Middle East Nations?
In a leaked memo seen last month, it was revealed that the Finns had already drawn up contingency plans for a Greek exit from the euro.
Although ostensibly a sensible measure for any finance ministry to contemplate, the document confirmed the Finns' position as the most uncompromising of the EU’s creditor nations.
The reputation is well-deserved.

Actually I had read that Russia was trying to help put in pipelines through both Iran and Syria. But everything got put on hold by ...guess who? ISIS. They are sitting right where the lines were supposed to run. Thats why I think that we are supporting ISIS and have been.We helped start them up. Several times we have 'cough' accidentally dropped supplies for the Kurds or Iraqis and it ended up in ISIS hands instead. Hmmm.
