humans will continue to be a dominant species and when contact occurs again it will be humans that will do the discovery.

Humans are the dominant species on a plant with 8.7 million different species. Our intellect is vastly superior to anything we have ever come across, our communication and ability to articulate ideas is phenomenal and we are incredibly emotionally driven (fear, anger, love, jealousy, ego)- forcing us to expend energy on concepts and actions that no other species can come close to.

Mars Attack would be the most likely scenario in my opinion.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers - because genetic manipulation appears to be a key factor when humans and aliens interact.

a group of people discover the human race is being replaced one by one, with clones devoid of emotion.

Honestly I'm thinking more the day the earth stood still because humans are a very destructive race

The truth of it is probably "Men In Black".

They already live among us and there is no need to invade or destroy because they are already here.
