Then they are just following orders and not actually believing anything.

Like robots, yes. It makes perfect sense to associate believers with robots. Lots of them just go along with the "program".

Heh. I had a feeling you'd go there. I even briefly considered going there myself.

Wow, too cool. Hope they make a film out of that… love those "rat things"--

That didn't really work out for the people of the twelve colonies. If Ai robots start turning evangelical, I'm out of here. Stop the planet, I want off. Humans are bad enough with religions, we do not want robots or Ai thinking that way.

will possibly be a case of "the novel was WAY better"
all the sumeriology, how the Me were supposed to be wetware apps, etc,

they just don't make 'em like they used to
the 5th element was pretty good, but you just have to look at the speed or pacing of the film
as compared to blade runner to see what I mean.
or any of the reboots/remakes of recent years...

Forgot about the fifth element. And yah, older films ran 'slower'…

and longer too, according to one commenter on the videos page the studio execs made mann cut out a lot because over 90min was too long, i'm only 48, but remember intermissions in the middle of a movie.

lol read Asimov as a kid and just remembered a novelette titled "the runaway robot" www.amazon.com...

however between Heinlein, Zelazny, Herbert, the "Dangerous Visions" series , Asimov's greater works such as Foundation, cyberpunk, amongst others I've learned not to be so naive regarding techno-utopias [or my science fiction].

rereading some of my BBC 8th Doctor novels these days [currently Placebo Effect]
edit on 17-4-2015 by AdamuBureido because: because Asimov desrves caps

I don't read as much as I used to in books. Absorbed my share of them waaay back. Now I don't have the time (or I got ADD) or something.

I won't bore you with a list, you probably read Lensman, Dune, Hyperion, ad infiniutm…

Other movies that come to mind. If you like Mann see Thief with James Caan. Also Cann in the original Roller Ball, Strange Days, I know you didn't miss Elysium, Brazil, Metropolis (Fritz Lang) distopias…

love that distopian nightmare genre, anything to distract from the real one.

This is getting better....

Men shoots computer in Colorado Springs alley, gets revenge he wanted - and a citation

When ctrl + alt + delete doesn't work, just shoot the darn thing.

That's what one man did on Monday night, according to Colorado Springs police. Lucas Hinch, 37, was cited for discharging a weapon within city limits after he took the fight with his computer outside and got the revenge most of us only dream about.

Makes you wonder if he will be saved or end up in hell (same for computer).
