Jala woke me up pounding on my back door. I honestly don’t know how the door hinges held. When I opened the door she grabbed me by the wrist and
jerked me out the door.
“Humph! Jala, what on Accasia is wrong with you!?! I think you broke my arm.” I shout as she drags me towards the path to the woods.
“Shhhh, you must be quiet Martin. You are going to wake up the Sun if you don’t learn a little stealth.” Jala looked back over her shoulder to
give me a stern look but her furry hand never released my wrist.
On and on we went; through the forest over a well-worn path, down a steep incline where we had to wade across a creek at the bottom, then back up
another hill and through another forest. My breath was beginning to come out in short gasps as Jala pushed my body to keep up with her breakneck
speed.
“Enough! I cannot take another step. My lungs burn like they are filled with matches and I have no doubt that my feet are covered in blisters!
What could be so horrible that we had to run like that?” I let myself fall to the ground. No grace, I have no energy left, I simply fall into a
dirty heap of sweaty smelling hair and pajamas. Pajamas!!! OMG, I still have on my pajamas! “Jala, you tell me right now what is going on!”
Jala suddenly seemed bashful. She looked down as she moved the dirt at her feet around with her toes. “Well, see I have these visions and I have
found it best to act when I receive a vision.”
I find a good comfy spot and pat a spot for Jala to sit by me. “Sit my friend. Talk to me. What is on your mind? You have made me run a half
marathon in my PJs so you owe me answers.”
“I saw waves and waves of water rushing down through our fertile valleys. Streams were overflowing their banks pushing the earth out of the way
when the waters still needed more room. Mud, trees, and parts of the decaying city became sculpting tools building a new landscape. Accasia has to
clean herself from the last poisons of The War.” Jala looks to me with tears in her eyes. “I knew it would happen soon. But suddenly it feels
eminent. Right now you need to rest, you look kinda rough. “ She says with her personality starting to reemerge. “Tomorrow we find you a new
home. And I will tell you the vision I had of you, before I ever found you lost in the woods.”
