They're privately contracted mercs... they could be on just about anybody's payroll.

Why can't they all just be like the A-Team and less like Cobra?

From the sounds of things, it's more like Hail Hydra at the moment. Sounds about as appealing as sandpaper toilet rolls, does it not?

I think its rather time this nonsense was stopped, don't you? Private military contractors wandering around war zones, armed to the eye sockets and loyal only to the amount of currency they can accrue? It does not sound ideal to me. I would go so far as to say, decidedly fishy, and appearing ever more so, the more times the company they work for changes names.

The situation in Ukraine is impossible for those who live there. On the one hand, you have Russian military units being deployed cross borders, bringing with them tools of the trade and support to the Pro-Russian rebels, and on the other hand, you have private contractors in the employ of a company which is in turn hired by parties in the West no doubt, to put its boots down in favour of the Ukrainian military, not to mention in support of pseudo military fascist organisations in the region. It is also impossible to know, precisely who is responsible for this mess, specifically.

I mean, to one extent or another, this conflict, as with many others over the years, is mostly about who can wave their genitalia around the most, and create the worst possible display. To pretend otherwise is to ignore the reality at hand, I believe. However, I also think that this brings up some deeply concerning features of modern warfare, modern life, and the way human life is valued in this day and age, by those who are responsible for overseeing the protection of it, or at least, are assumed to be by the ignorant.

U.S. Government.

And that group makes a fortune at being crap

In a war full of failures, the US counternarcotics mission in Afghanistan stands out: opiate production has climbed steadily over recent years to reach record-high levels last year.

Yet one clear winner in the anti-drug effort is not the Afghan people, but the infamous mercenary company formerly known as Blackwater.

You sound surprised by the way, but the U.S. has been in Ukraine since before the elections in 2014, or what it really should've been called was the illegal coup in 2014.

yours. rather than use us troops the gov pays mercs to do the job of the army. it would look really really really bad to see us troops doing that. so you pay mercs to do it for you, not only do you save face but you get total plausible deniability.

it's win win!

So Russia invades Ukraine and takes Crimea from Ukraine and the US is to blame. People need to lay off the vodka.

Sly reply but I ain't Pro-Russian, I just believe as a human being I have a right to know what is truly happening in countries such as the Ukraine. Russia didn't invade Crimea, a large part of the population is of Russian descent, or to describe it in your black and white narrative, the ''Russians'' were already there

Tell me, What country did the people of Crimea live in before Russia invaded? Because I'm sure it was Ukraine which makes them Ukrainians.

U.S.S.R., and Russia didn't invade Crimea

If Russia had invaded Crimea then the U.S. would be at war with Russia, and provided the nuke hadn't been dropped yet, it would be in the news.

The USSR wasn't a country, and has been dissolved for a long time.

Why would we be at war with them if they invaded the Crimea?

Provide proof of this because I haven't seen any and my original point still stands.

My point wasn't really on whether the U.S.S.R. was a country or not.

Well because the Ukraine is basically now the battle lines of what this conflict is all about and Russia didn't invade Crimea.

EDIT: So how on earth has this thread drifted to be about Russia now?

Must've missed all those links saying ''Russia Invaded Crimea!'', anyway the thread isn't about Russia, it's about Academi, the company formerly known as Blackwater who are now operating in the Ukraine

Then why answer "What country were they living in" with USSR if you weren't saying it was a country?

As for Academi or whatever you want to call them, they work for whoever pays the bills.

Most polls would show they did not "invade" but instead liberated it. The majority of people from known sources seem to have overwhelmingly wanted it.

And besides, why would we be at war even if they did invade? Are we Nazi sympathizers now? That was rhetorical because sadly I already know the answer to that question. The sincerest form of flattery is imitation is it not?

The war in Ukraine was brought about by the European missile shield insistence and the Ukrainians decision to be interested in NATO. You seen what the US did with Cuba when the Russians wanted to move next door right? This is different how?
