To help celebrate his meeting with China Ambassador Cui Tiankai, Washington Governor Jay Inslee raised the Chinese flag between the American and state flags outside the Capitol building in Olympia.

The Chinese flag was flown at the same height as the American flag, a violation of proper flag protocol.

Over the weekend, a small group of activists carrying Gadsden flags, along with the ...

assistance of an officer removed the Communist flag.

An oxymoron of a different color !!

Washington State prides themselves in Socialist Human rights and then flies a Chinese flag.

Maybe the message exposes true intent?

I was thinking if people are going to run their mouth and then act then maybe they should know what they are talking about first.

On one of my few trips to the US one thing I found was the connection the people have to their flag .In Canada it's more about Poutin beer and maple syrup to tell you the truth . I found that as one characteristic between the two Nations that stood out for me ...Oh yea and guns .

Back in the 50s there would have been a lynch mob.

This is an outrage. Who okayed this, and is there any type of investigation being conducted by officials? I'm surprised this isn't big news - to fly the Chinese flag at a U.S. Capitol Building... has this happened before I wonder?

I live in Washington State and I know how most all government employees here and elected officials seem to embrace Communist principles and act as a rubber stamp to our Maoist communist president, so this flag thing is par for the course.

Considering it followed procedure the ones to blame are the ones who took it down. State flags are not flown at the same height as the us flag since they are subordinate. National flags are flown at the same levels since they are equal.

Oh no, their dyed piece of cloth was raised up into the air at the same height as our dyed piece of cloth.

Seriously...this is something children would fight over.

Nations flags are flown at the same height. It's the state flags that are required to be flown lower than the US flag.

11. When flags of two or more nations are displayed, they are to be flown from separate staffs of the same height. The flags should be of approximately equal size. International usage forbids the display of the flag of one nation above that of another nation in time of peace. The order of precedence for flags generally is National flags (US first, then others in alphabetical order in English), State (host state first, then others in the order of admission) and territories (Washington DC, Puerto Rico, etc.), Military (Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard), then other.

www.ushistory.org...

Instead of being outraged, maybe learn the rules for flying flags first.

Down here in Texas they are.

The Texas flag is always flown at the same height as the US flag.

Only state in the country.

lol, don't they love that flag over there, blows the mind how much importance the attribute to it.

In Australia, if a persons putting any importance into the flag, there either incredibly drunk or making a racist statement about to much refugees.

I didn't know that. I always thought the US flag was the highest.

I like learning new stuff. Feel like an idiot for not knowing basic flag protocol though. Thought I knew...

Thanks for the lesson, have a star.

Because Texas was an independent nation before joining the US. Its also the only state that can subdivide itself into 5 smaller states without congressional approval?

Yes sir, you are correct on both counts.

Texas, this crazy mixed up place is funny to a Hoosier boy like myself.

ETA- star for you, you really know a lot of obscure facts most had no clue about when it comes to flags and states rights.
