NEWS: Leading Senators Hesitant To Replace Rumsfeld Despite Mistakes In Iraq, page 1

Acknowledging the fact that there is a growing lack of confidence in Rumsfeld by lawmakers, Officials claimed that a change in leadership at the Pentagon would be too disruptive right now in light of the January 30th election in Iraq.
Stopping just short of asking Rumsfeld to step down, Senator Chuck Hagel made the statement that it was up to President Bush whether to replace Rumsfeld. "I find it astounding.... Things are worse than they've ever been in Iraq." Hagel said on CBS Face The Nation.

Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld should shoulder his share of blame for escalating problems in Iraq but leading senators on two key committees say he should not step down -- yet.

A growing number of lawmakers have issued statements of no-confidence in Rumsfeld, but Sen. John Warner, R-Va., the Armed Services Committee chairman, said a change of civilian leadership at the Pentagon now would be too disruptive, given the scheduled Jan. 30 elections in Iraq.

I think that the growing resentment towards Rumsfeld is justified. In light of all that is going wrong in Iraq, as well as his extremely cavalier attitude is coming to a head.
Add to that the fact that he used an automated machine to sign the condolence letters sent to families of those who lost there lives in Iraq, rather than sign them individually shows a blatant disregard to those whoe are serving this country.
