Cast a Shadow ... Pay the Tax

The rationale appears to go something like this:

An awning casts a shadow on public property and therefore you must pay to use that property.

...

The best thing about this policy (if you’re the government) is that taken to its logical extreme, you could charge everyone a fee on sunny days. Unless you’re a vampire, you probably are using public land by casting a shadow.

We would also note that this gives new meaning to the term "shadow banking."
They're Now Taxing Shadows

-
OBSERVATION:

In New York City, it would be a ... Windfall-Tax.

( or how-to: tax compounded-shadows amongst tall buildings? )

-
OPINION:

Prices would increase on ... Cave-Dwellings.

( i.e. how-to: avoid the shadow-tax? )
.

My wife's asleep and I'm struggling really hard from laughing-out-loud ...

I'm literally in need of tissue-paper.

I'm not creative enough to make this (type-of-stuff?) up.

You got that right, law of unintended consequences. How does one go about not paying this tax? Remove the awning. Awnings actually help with keeping rooms cool. Your AC bill may go up.

OBSERVATION-and/or-OPINION:

I attribute 'air taxes' to the ... ACA/Obamacare.

( i.e. 'air taxes' already exist; ... regardless, star-for-you)

Average breath rate is 20 times a minute.

That makes it 10,512,000 breaths a year.

.00009 cents per breath tax rate ought to do...

How is it that the government can tax something that they have zero to do with? "They didn't make that".

What gives them authority over things that are not made by man? What involvement did they, or anyone else have, in making sunlight or a shadow for that matter?

Go ahead and tax things that are man made, but how can they justify this? Tax the awnings maybe, but the shadow cast on "their" public property? Doesn't the public pay taxes on public property already? We need to slap the hands that keep stealing from the cookie jar.

Why not just let the government keep their funny play money and leave us the heck alone. The people need a separate currency that isn't given by the government and then taken away at every turn.

I wonder if she got taxed on her use of Lego and lectured on the environmental effects of large structures.
