Has the countries governing body asked for the US to intervene?

Didn't they state they can take care of their own affairs, and that the US military should leave?

To expand on this, nations are extremely reluctant to allow foreign troops to operate in their borders. Part of it is pride but part of it is security. Even if someone is your ally at this moment, it is extremely dangerous to let someone set up base in your territory with enough equipment to fight a war. Money and weapons are one thing, and we're supplying those along with intelligence. Troops on the ground is something completely different and the US should not do that.

If they couldn't blow it up, they would dismantle it stone by stone. These guys are very serious about eliminating what they see as idolatry.

Unlike the Buddhist statues though (that the Buddhists didn't even care about, because they believe everything is temporary) the entire world cares about the Pyramids. There are two structures that I believe the world could temporarily unite to save from destruction and that's the Pyramids and the Great Wall of China. We're a long way from either of those coming under an actual threat though.

Thank you.

That's what I thought.

Just another way of looking at it.

Tourism is a huge industry. War and nothing to see will be economically devastating.

if they get even close to doing that, and we still don't bomb them out of existence, then we just need to accept them as our rulers and stop just faking outrage.
why is nobody doing anything concrete about these idiots? can someone give me a direct answer?

Certainly, we as Americans don't want anothet war just yet. A few more bull# ancient monuments get destroyed and people will lining up to volunteer other people's children to die. Jut wait, you're sentiment proves how effective this is.

ISIS now threatens to destroy the Sphinx and pyramids. I guess the world should get ready to lose these treasures. ISIS has been acting with impunity, destroying the ancient city of Nimrod and the relics in the Mosul museum. Apparently the people from that region, although the majority, aren't doing anything to stop them, either through fear or condoning.

“All Muslims are charged with applying the teachings of Islam to remove such idols, as we did in Afghanistan when we destroyed the Buddha statues,” he said on Saturday during a television interview on an Egyptian private channel, widely watched by Egyptian and Arab audiences.
“God ordered Prophet Mohammed to destroy idols,” he added. “When I was with the Taliban we destroyed the statue of Buddha, something the government failed to do.”

Considering the lid from the sarcophagus from the kings chamber, is in all likelihood, in the holiest of holies in Mecca . It might be the last stupid statement they ever make.

ISIS must have been feeling heat from countries after killing a pilot, 23 Christians, etc.. So they've turned to destroying historically significant artifacts? I think the world in general is starting to put ISIS atrocities on the back burner, and turn focus to more pressing matters...issues that affect larger swaths of the population.
