Hey folks,

The teachings of Plotinus, or what became known as neo-Platonism, has had a profound influence on Christian theology.

There is a very real reason to avoid these "practices", especially most types of divination and "spirit-channeling".

For those Christians that have forgotten why, and for those that would like to learn why: you will have to search the teachings of Plotinus to recover that information.

Good luck! It's quite the hunt.

P.S. Oh whoops! I forgot two that you all missed:

Magic Mirrors

and

Fluid Condensers

Hilarious. Christians cast spells. They're called prayers.

You left out all the worlds religions. Religion, as in organized religious practice is occultic. Occult stems from cult. All religions are cults.

Except yours, right?

I notice Protestant was left off that list.

There are many occultists within my faith and I left off many religions such as Islam, Black Muslim, Catholics, Hinduism, Buddhism, etc.....

Like I mentioned in the OP - I intentionally left out the main religions because I did not want a religious debate over religion.

Yet that's exactly what you started.

Oh my, you must not have read the whole story.

He arose from the dead. That's why we celebrate Easter.

That's exactly as likely as a rabbit rising from the dead.

What about cannibalism rituals? Oh, that's right, it's called communion.

What about worshipping a dead guy on stick? Sounds pretty "occult" to me.

Oh, I would very much enjoy seeing the OP use the teachings of Plotinus to defend his position.

@cirquedetruth - nice input

@OP - half of the OP is not occultism. You must be confused... under these Perceptions, everything that is not science is occultism?

Anything that flirts or engages with the internal energies that allow matter to BE, think and feel... becomes occultism?

Maybe occultism is too broad a word then. As I said half of the OP is not occultism, and most of it is not connected to the next practice.. it's just randomness.

Though this thread is a great psychological experiment lol

The OP asked people to add to his list of "occult" practices as he apparently defined occult. I did so adding Christian prayers as spell-casting, communion is ritual cannibalism and worshipping a dead guy on a stick as worshipping the dead. Is there anything about adding those practices to his list that you don't understand?

Sure, I'll try.

The simplest way to say it is that you should be engaged with life. Not the "occult". Life is occulted enough and the real secrets are to be uncovered through our relationships.

The Jewish folks sort of nail it with the saying, "L ’ Chaim !"

Good enough?
