Tonight on 20/20 they were talking about the waste that
the Dept of Homeland Security has created and how
they take frivolous trips and so on. In particular they
talked about a trip to Hawaii where they spent time
on the beach and many of them didn't even go to the
conferences that were being held any way just thought
I would throw that out there.

Oh yeah and the financial officer that discovered all of
this and talked about it with the press has been fired
and the White House will not give a reason!!

I have a feeling this Department will not last long, and will be handed over to the FBI. I do not think anyone wants this job, and I think it's a Main reason Ridge is getting out now while he can. Instead of having problems with two departments, CIA, FBI handling information between each other, we had to add another one to add to the confusion. I'm all for defending the Homeland, but in this situation, I think the less hands in the cookie jar the better.

That happens a lot in corporate America; I'm not surprised that gov't employees do it also. You can be sure it's not the first time it happened.

I don't know what the financial officer hoped to gain by taking it to the press. Maybe he was just sore because he wasn't invited along?
