I agree...
Solution don't give any religious holidays out.

But it's not politically correct (religiously correct?) to call the breaks "winter break" and "spring break". People get offended, their panties get all bunched up and they charge that we're "trying to take Christ out of Christmas", or claim there's a "war on Christmas" and so on... You can't please them all.

I would totally support taking religion (and religious holidays) out of schools altogether, but the largest religion in this country isn't having it. And if you ask them to share or consider people of other views, they get even more pissy!

That's where your solution comes in. And I agree with it 100%! Either all religions or none should be celebrated in school. I prefer none. It just causes jealousy.

Incredible, muslim radicals cause the death of thousands during 9/11 and the best way to commemorate their killing spree is to cater to their needs in NY.

Hell I wonder what will be given to them the next time they kill more Americans in one single day and one state.

Saharia law !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they now own NY.

Murder and conquest, is now rewarded in America.

Who is catering to the needs of Muslim radicals in NY?

When was "saharia" law imposed in NY (and what is saharia law, btw?)

Murder and conquest has always been rewarded in America; Google Manifest Destiny.

PS: How can anyone not take the posts of right-wingers seriously? With quality thought like this.

ALL religions should be respected.

Period.

There should never be an issue until said religion impacts the freedom of others.

I didn't say they shouldn't, I just don't see the point of them honoring any religion, there is not supposed to be any official acknowledgement from a gov sponsored school.

Soon there will be every day of the week off because of all the days each religion requires off.

Where the hell is your outrage for the provable...

& they are catered to with 3 billion dollars annually...

So I say again...
Where the hell is your outrage for the provable...

No, no you continue to believe a blacked out censored version of events...
You continue to believe that a man in a cave did it...
The one who denied it, the one who's Most Wanted FBI page had no mention of that heinous day...

It's not we, it's them who make it harder for the rest of us, the them are those that understand how to use differences to divide "the we".

I heard this somewhere. "The single most powerful word in our democracy is the word we."

In America Christmas isn't even a religious holiday for most, it is a family holiday to rejoice with friends and family.

I have never once attended a Christmas mass, but put up a tree buy presents and celebrate with my agnostic family.

It in modern america has nothing to do enmass with religion.

I'm not sure about where you live, but every where I had lived and where I live now it is very religious and yes I live in the USofA.

When I was in school (circa 600 years ago) any kid could take religious days off from school so long as they had a note from their parents, the absence wasn't marked against their attendance record. It was a system that worked well.

My best friend throughout school was Jewish and she was able to take all of the extra days off.

I tried to convince my teachers that I was Jewish so I could get the same days off as her so we could go hang out at the mall together.

They didn't buy it.

Damn tyrant teachers...

Seems to me it may be only the people who never leave the house or are in pre-fear mode who believe there is a war on Christmas. Because it's sure as hell all over the place here too

Wow never seen so much hate come from you. So kids in school have to suffer because of what "19 guys" did? Tell me do you allow Christian holidays? What about the innocents that died from the IRA? How many millions of innocent lives were lost because of trigger happy uncle sam?

Incredible, is its an agenda in America, people have short time memories, education has fail them and no longer have rational thoughts.

America has fallen and excuses for everything just keep piling, 9/11 was an inside job, we commemorate Muslim holidays and vilified now Christians for their existence, Al-Qaida was CIA, Osama never existed and ISIS is not what it seems.

In todays modern world, we reward those that wants us death, fundamentalism now coming from radical Islamic muslims is the fat, the in thing, we should forget who is killing who lately because now we need to forget those that wants America death.

What happen with American been ruled by Zionist or born again Christians fundamentalist, people this days have not idea where their head is. trying to satisfied everything, ruling like headless chickens.

United we stand divided we fall, as a nation trying to cater to anybody regardless of who is our enemies will be our downfall.

The apologist will kill us at the end.

It should be not religious holidays of any kind or faction

Americas public school system doesn't need anymore days off.

Yes I am ranting but heck I am trying to make a point and is always going to be somebody that can not handle the truth, I make no apologies

I agree all religious holidays should be private at home, but if you allow one you have to allow all of them. If you blame one religion because of a few extreme people then you must look at all extreme people of all religions.

It is said that the church and state need to be separated , I say they already are there just needs to be a wall.

The problem is that in America we have the most dangerous threat of all, the apologist, blame America for all the evils in the world and then we should all apologize for it.

While I know America is not the perfect country, we know that death, chaos and mayhem is an everyday thing perpetrated by others also.

Here in America we have to cater to everybody because the apologist say that is the right thing to do, we wanted or not, religion been protected by the constitution is forced fed into the population regardless if they follow the same believes, have different believes or have not believes at all.

To tell the truth I'm sick and tired of the apologist.

Celebrate your holidays be religious or not at home, leave the states alone, I done care what or who others believe on.

The only holidays that should be celebrated by the states and government are those that originated in the nation.

No holidays should be celebrated that belong to another country, we are United states of America no United states of the world.

Anybody that wants to celebrate a holiday of their country of origin should do so at home or they are welcome to go back to their country of origin.

Plain and simple, this should not even be and issue.

This practices weakens a nation that already is losing its identity.

Losing what identity?

I love the fact that this country is truly a convergence of many different peoples and cultures and even religions. Things don't get stale. We learn more. I love NYC for that very reason...it's like every country in the world all rolled into one, and I believe richer for it and unlike any other place like it.

Sure this kind of diversity, some might even call it an experiment, will sometimes cause issues, sometimes massive ones, but it's the way we deal with the issues, bumps along the road and all, that can make us stronger or weaker. Thrive or not survive. And it's our choice whether we embrace that or not.

I'd rather live here any day tthan in boring old countries where everyone is inbred and exactly the same.

Well then it's cut down to Martin Luther King Jr day, Presidents Day, Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independance Day, The New Patriot Day ( heard a kid last year 10 year old say it's second July4th for the one who were stuck at camp ), Labor Day ( yup I worked with a company that takes off labor day ), Veterans Day.

Lo and behold, people came into this country for new beginnings to start new, isn't that the reason people migrated to America? to start new, because they want our liberties, to leave behind oppression and believes that are forced into them by their own governments, or that is what they preach, better life for their children, but hell they do everything they can to keep enforcing those believes and oppression on no only to themselves but everybody else if they can, oh, but I forgot, America has not culture, has not history and have no identity, we are warmongers, we deserve the scorn of those that we invade and kill, so now we need to cater to no only those that wants to perpetuate their believes but those that their believes comes from our enemies, right Lucidity?

Our nation is getting what it deserves, right?

Maybe children will be able to learn something at school rather than getting dumbed out with so many holidays that they don't even understand what they are all about, but that they mean a free pass to stay at home.

What should we care for the holidays that somebody else celebrate in their country.

Tell why, should I care.

a reply to: ~Lucidity I'm Catholic...can I have Saint days off?

Joking aside, I work with Muslims, and unlike my Brazilian and Chinese students, Muslim students only ask for two holidays per year. My rowdy Saudis want Eid off, and sometimes Lailat Al Qadr. Seems like a pretty small concession to make. Especially with all the teacher work days that happen anyways.
