It's not about winning.

It's about the truth.

The truth is that progressive beliefs in the 21st century are not the great evil write-off that they are made to be.

Look at this thread ... according to this, progressives want a totalitarian communist wasteland.

And they believe that.

So, instead of a free marketplace of ideas being exchanged, you either spend your time trying to correct ignorance, dishonesty or both.

Your right but they are not liberals. They are Far-left Radicals. Liberals are they people who don't have a party solely to win any major election. Just like the Far-Right aren't conservatives. Conservatives get the same treatment liberals get. They give their support one to democrat one to republican. In return they get crumbs thrown their way. Major domestic, foreign, and military policy is reached for interests that help not the one of us. Liberals & Conservatives are set out to fight in the public eye while the real Radicals move around freely.

Beezzer is right in re; labels. The 'Ivy League Elites Want to Rule You and Use Your Tax Money to Buy Votes' party would not be very popular so they hijack the unused 'Progressive' moniker (who's against progress anyway?). 'Democrat'? Today's 'Democrat' party is about as far from the US' traditional Democrat party as can be. In the area of race relations that's a good thing--nobody, left or right, wants to go back to Jim Crow etc--but otherwise they've experienced a sea change.

does it really matter if North Korea calls itself 'communist' or 'socialist' or 'proletarian'? It's a dictatorship.

Since the historical Democratic party was saddled with the Confederate States and their desire for slavery and then racial discrimination, since those factions fled the Democrats after 1964 to the Republicans, you have a point. The modern Democratic Party is much different than it was ... and now all those Confederates are Republicans.

1) Didn't say you were. The Obama/Clinton/Kerry crowd is at the top. Below are a bunch of state-college educated teachers and editors and political staffers in ideological lockstep.

2) "Rich people want to rule us, so they get into politics and call it 'public service'". George Will. How many millionaires are in the dem party? (Clintons, Kerry, Gore, Pelosi, Reid, etc etc etc.) Which party wants to control our lives? The dems. Who wants to leave people alone? The conservatives/Republicans.

3) The whole 'social justice' spiel is about buying votes. Anyone who doesn't see that by now is willfully blind.
