I don't think it is in a lot of minds, I suppose that's why people are debating the "naturalness" of homosexuality.

We can agree that having sexual relations with a child is wrong-yes.
We can agree that members of the same sex is right (for them), and is not really my decision to make.
You ask if they are both outside the "norm", and if I'm going to be intellectually honest, I'd have to say .. almost. Pedophilia is most certainly outside the norm, as far as homosexuality goes, I think it is becoming more and more socially acceptable.

My own opinion on the subject of homosexuality is that if we are the same and homosexuals wish to be viewed as "just the same" as heterosexuals, why then do they need a parade or gay pride, because as a straight woman I desire neither.

I take no issue with homosexuality-so will get no debate from me on the issue. I just want people to be at peace.

I think it hurts when people who don't support homosexuality are labeled as bad people that are full of hate. That's all I see when I look around. That person doesn't like gay people so let's publicly shame them because of it. So your wrong, it does hurt people.

Yes, I suppose your right about that. I have no dog in this fight and have never been hurt by other peoples choices (in that regard). But I can imagine that others choices can hurt others.

Thing is, adults do have the right to make those choices. We have to be honest with ourselves and can't live our lives to please others.

Most people misuse the word pedophilia to mean accosting children, that is why gay people, and some straight people too, get all butthurt when people make the comparison.

And it's true though, some people do that on purpose, when making the comparison, just to inflame gay people.

Homosexuality =/= gay sex and pedophilia =/= accosting children. It's just the underlying attraction. And research points to both not being conscious decisions, same as being straight. I know for sure I didn't choose to like girls over boys.

I also remember the first time I saw two men kissing when I was about 5. I said something like "Gross, why are those two men kissing on the lips!" really loud, and got yelled at by my mom lol. I didn't choose any of that, it was just my reactions to the world around me.

If I were to venture a guess it would be that most gay people in the World have never been to a gay parade.

Not sure I understand your point though. There are many events and activities that celebrate sexuality. Many that are largely heterosexual.Sure they don't explicitly say it's done via heterosexual pride, but that's probably because their orientation hasn't been systematically oppressed. Likewise there was 'black pride' that corresponded to their civil rights movement. It's just a way of empowering themselves with equal self-worth. Gay people that have 'gay pride' are not doing so out of some sense of superiority or spite against heterosexuality. At the end of the day it is about equality, and the pursuit of happiness, and all that jazz.
