First saw him in a 1950s episode of "Twilight Zone". And that was probably the last time I saw him smiling "in character."

"Classic Star Trek" helped define my generation. It was a hopeful, promising Future amid all the carnage of VietNam, and the deaths of John and Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King, the Manson murders, and endless marches and protests.

He made it "cool" to be a hybrid, "always a child of 2 worlds," like those of us who were "into Science Fiction". And Spock also made Thinking Logically the default setting for solving Life's Problems - not hysteria or violence.

I'd like to think I still carry a bit of Spock in my heart and mind. As for the actor who lived and breathed that brilliant and nuanced character, now you truly know the truth about "Space, the Final Frontier."

Peace.

Aw dang
He had a very wise outlook on life & everything in it, he'll be very missed. He's off to join DeForest Kelley and James Doohan in the next great frontier of exploration. Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations for that trek, I'm sure.

watching that video just got me thinking.

What is his funeral going to be like!

There are going to be thousands of fans wanting to pay respects it will be huge unless the family go for a very low key private affair. But with him being so loyal to the fans i cannot see that happening.

We should have an ATS wake.

Everyone take the rest of the day off and come to my place to get locked drunk and do Spock impersonations whilst streaming Star Trek in the background till the wee hours of the morning.

Rest In Peace, and live long and prosper.

Thats bloody awful news. Sure, eighty three is not a bad knock for all that, but I think everyone is going to miss him. Its a very sad day for science fiction fans everywhere.

Ohhh..yes, that is very sad news. I just loved this man and enjoyed his appearance in the last few StarTrek movies very much.

Just the other day I was thinking about 'the why' people must grow older and inevitable die. That moment I accepted once more that all my childhood movie heroes and musical artist I like will die... one after the other. That is if everything will have its natural course and I not die first. Leonard is one of these people.

My mother has long past 70 years of age and I notice she has plenty of funerals to go to... Many of her friends are dying.. She told me that is also a part of life. At a certain age there will come a period you will notice your friends and family die around you. It is a life experiance everybody has to go through and to deal with that loss..

Thank you Leonard for all the entertainment and joy you provided for your fans.

Rest in peace..

This brings a tear to my eye. I'm so thankful for the work he was able to do in the new Star Trek Timeline.

A legend. He will live on forever.

My condolences to his family and friends. He certainly did, live long and prosper, OtherSideOfTheCoin. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
