Not that it makes a great deal of difference as he will no doubt keep up his murderous run until he himself is killed but at least now we can put a name to the mask.

The masked Islamic State militant known as "Jihadi John", who has been pictured in the videos of the beheadings of Western hostages, has been named.
The BBC understands he is Mohammed Emwazi, a British man believed to be from West London, who was known to British security services.
They chose not to disclose his name earlier for operational reasons.

Emwazi first appeared in a video last August, when he apparently killed the American journalist James Foley.
He was later thought to have pictured in the videos of the beheadings of US journalist Steven Sotloff, British aid worker David Haines, British taxi driver Alan Henning, and American aid worker Abdul-Rahman Kassig, also known as Peter.
www.bbc.co.uk...

But his real name, according to friends and others familiar with his case, is Mohammed Emwazi, a Briton from a well-to-do family who grew up in West London and graduated from college with a degree in computer programming. He is believed to have traveled to Syria around 2012 and to have later joined the Islamic State, the group whose barbarity he has come to symbolize.

A dark and disturbing thought entered my mind when reading this..vigilantes going after his family and what better way for him to atone to his sins?

But that would make them/us no better than him.

They chose not to disclose his name until the asset becomes of no use to them. They'll recruit another asset through Anjem Choudary.

THere is only one source of that story and it's an Iranian website. Read the articles elsewhere and you have the same story literally copied. On sites such as .....suprise suprise, Infowars.

try to find correlation of the story elsewhere and there isn't any. So you now have two choices:

1. Believe without question one single story from an Iranian wesbsite.
2. Dismiss it until you can corroborate what they are saying.

Oh and such damning evidence such as the photos of the planes , with their id's on the fuselage, would have been published....surely.....unless......

I think it more likely if there is any truth to it I.S fighters got their hands on weapons intended for Kurdish fighters , the UK does not or is not supporting I.S.

The same could be said for any mainstream news portal think CNN or Rt are anybetter. It is up to us to discern the truth. How are they surviving without airsupport

Why do they keep attacking Muslim countires and not going anywhere near Israel. If we want rid of ISIS we would bomb them from the air and support the Kurds and Sryians. How come last year Israel was attacking the same targets as ISIS in Sryian.

I watched a couple of weeks ago as Anon disabels hundreds of ISIS twitter acounts. This is the portal from which ISIS trolls the world with there devilish deads. The US government could have done the same wiuth a phone call. They choose not to and that silence speaks volumes.

Dont believe the hype Sryia is falling to an orchertrated tune..

The Kurds have been begging for wepons we are not being very forth coming in that regard. We are in the process of illegally invading Sryia. This will be the third illegal war not ratified by the UN and peeps dont see it.

In Iraq we were lied too.. In Afganistan we were lied too and you think this is different..

Of course it is nonsense. The Iranians state controlled media like to dabble now and again with claims made against the UK. It is all part of the game they play. The Iranians did the same a few years ago with the following invented story.

The British army has been relocating Taliban insurgents from southern Afghanistan to the north by providing transportation means, diplomats say.

The diplomats, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said insurgents are being airlifted from the southern province of Helmand to the north amid increasing violence in the northern parts of the country.

The aircraft used for the transfer have been identified as British Chinook helicopters.

edition.presstv.ir...

It is a game that the Iranian play. Of course conspiracy loons lap it up. In reality if these claimed two British Planes claimed shot down were reality then the loss would last five minutes. What are the claims of the identities of these two British Planes? RAF C-130s, RAF C-17s? The loss of such a type wouldn't last five minutes. I expect that some conspiracy nut will be trawling the web for some old crash/wreckage images to further spin the story?

I think it is well established that media lies to us. Last year Israel was attacking the same targets in Sryia as ISIS. If you look at the recent hisory of the middle east you will discern a simple pattern of nations falling.

This is no different to Iraq and Afganistan.

We are in the process of illegally invading Sryia.

We are supplying weapons to the Kurds so we don't have to put boots on the ground in Syria.

In a significant intensification of British involvement in the Iraq crisis, the foreign secretary, Philip Hammond, will tell his EU counterparts in Brussels on Friday that Britain is prepared to join France in arming the Kurds. Cameron and Nick Clegg agreed the plan at an emergency Cobra meeting.

Sorry purplemer but your view is very narrow minded, how exactly would ISIL attack Israel?

The don't occupy any land near the Israeli Syrian border, they'd pretty much have to take Damascus to even think of moving on Israel, perhaps that's why they haven't attacked them?

Also, you ever thought that maybe monitoring those Twitter accounts, instead of nuking them, is a far better way of gaining information on these guys?

No, much easier parroting ignorant anti-US rhetoric

really now........

I just love it sometimes how people on this site post wild accusations like this but don't even bother to back it up with even the flimsiest of links. Just regurgitate this rubbish like it is a statement of fact.

Gota love how some people "deny ignorance!".....

Last year the Syrian army were fighting ISIL, the FSA and Al Nusra all on different fronts.

It is so, so much more complicated than you think... Amongst all that, the FSA and Al Nusra sometimes joined forces to repel ISIL attacks, and Al Nusra probably joined with groups of ISIL fighters at some point to repel Assad's forces.

Just blurting out that it's the US's creation makes you look ridiculously ignorant.

Do some proper research, check out Daaskapitals posts, Neo's posts and a few others to point you in the right direction

I think its laziness.

Scroll through the recent posts page, read the headlines but don't bother to read the thread.

I'll admit I've done it before.
