From my point of view:

I am not a fan of either Islam as Muhammad taught it and Christian faith as Paul taught it. I have read part of the Quran and have tried to see any spiritual beauty there but I cannot see it and stop reading it and meditate instead.

Compared to Jesus and Buddha, Muhammad becomes a person who try to be the real thing but is not. A warlord who kills people and allow himself to have special rules for himself that his followers are not allowed like for instance the number of wives and going after women who are already married.

Islam could have been a beautiful religion who creates peace but the Muslims do not seem to want to change the flaws in Muhammad:s teaching and since they do not people like ISIS have no trouble using Muhammad:s example for the barbarism. Reformation do not seem to be allowed since it would prove that Muhammad do not measure up and is not a good teacher of spirituality.

Rumi and the Sufi:s seem to be the ones that are the most peaceful part of Islam but are also attacked as "infidels" by those with warlord tendencies. Why could not Rumi have been the creator of Islam instead of Muhammad?
