Cats RULE!!

Adorable. Self sufficient. Strong personalities and know what they want and when they want it. Useful. And they have the greatest expressions when they look at humans doing stupid things trying to get them to play. I love it.

And if their royal loo isn't absolutely quite right...they'll piss all over anything they scrunch up between their legs...

Cats SUCK!

Cat's are like women.
You have to understand them to really appreciate having them around the house...

Nah, I'm joking, I don't actually understand women!

What I'm reading here surprises me. My experience with cats is very different. I have four cats. They are all very affectionate, social and polite. When friends come over for a visit they want to socialise with them. When I'm working on something, they want to be involved. They follow me to whatever room I'm hanging out in and settle in. When I go to bed they all curl up on me or beside me for the night. When I'm sitting at the computer one or two is always cuddled up beside me. They have a sense of humour I've never seen a dog achieve. I treat them as a member of the family and that is what I get in return. Cats are amplifiers. They will give back many times exactly what they are given.

Dogs on the other hand would not fit my life style. I can 't imagine having to always find someone to take care of one if I go away for the weekend or making other people put up with one if brought it along. My cats aren't happy when I leave them on their own for the weekend but they are extra cuddly when I get home. Dogs are often loud and obnoxious. I spend a lot of time observing wildlife in the forest and I would have to leave the dog at home all the time. I have scars from dogs. From three different occasions. And I can't imagine having to pick up their poop from the yard or on a walk all of the time.

Bells on collars don't work and are dangerous for the cat. The cat will in time learn to hunt quietly with the bell on it,so it serves no purpose. However, having a collar on an outside cat is dangerous. I moved from my house that the first winter, I was suprized to see a cat hanging from one of the limbs of the tree in the yard behind me by its collar. It had long since been dead. We just didn't know it was there because of the leaves, once the leaves dropped you could see it. A sad end to someone's pet for sure. All because they had a collar on it. Now there are breakaway collars they make, but I wouldn't trust them myself.

Also I think a trip to the vet as one poster said is a good idea. Is this cat neutered? That would stop the running away pretty much there if it isn't. A full check up is needed with an explanation to the vet of what all the cat is doing bad. That way the vet will know what to look for. If this keeps up,I would maybe see about going back to the place you got the cat from and let them know there is a personality clash between you and the cat. Its not like it doesn't happen,it does. Also I would advise against letting any cat go outside. There are those that will argue, but my mother let her go out and boy oh boy, firghts, getting run over, picking up diseases, you name it,they got it while out there. Not worth it in my book. My cat never goes out. She is also very healthy and never has these issues.

my cat has no problem with plastic dished and catboxes.
he plays with plastic grocery bags.

but if i carry in bags plastic or not he hightails it to places unknown for some reason.
unless of course im trying to get out the door and he decides he really really wants out too, then bags arent a problem.

Cat's are the worst. I'll never forget moving into a house my junior year of college with three other girls. One girl and I loved dogs and the other two loved cats. We had no animals. Then, the second week in the house, the cat lovers brought home four kittens and said, "Surprise!" They promised to give three of them away. Well I lived with four cats for a year, and the second that school year was over, the other dog-lover and I moved out of there and gave the cats our rooms.

These were my issues:

1. Cats are not nice. They are jerks. Period. They have a superiority complex that I don't enjoy dealing with on a daily basis in my home life. And let's be honest, cats do not cuddle. They want what they want when they want it and if you don't give it to them, they will make you pay. I always closed my door to keep them out of my room. They would lie in wait outside my door and I literally had to battle it out with them every time I entered or exited my room.

2. They are disgusting. I do not enjoy smelling their poop every waking second of every single day. I also do not enjoy preparing food on counters they use as lounge chairs. I was basically the only person who operated a vacuum in that house, and oh boy did I learn just how gross cats are. Our vacuum didn't use bags, but instead had a canister that you removed to dump what was collected into the trash can. All I ever collected were massive amounts of hair and kitty litter. They track their poopy kitty litter all over the house. Some people love breathing in poopy kitty litter on a daily basis, but I am not one of those people.

Cats are just rude. The end.

It's run off so many times that I almost don't care

Thais the problem right there . Some run off and some are just neglected and left to fend for themselves . Then you get the ecological disaster that is happening below .

www.sciencewa.net.au... australian-animals

Now i know there are responsible cat owners out there , but there are also owners that are not responsible . How Australia deals with its cat problem is a big unknown . For owners of cats , well give the wildlife a chance and hang bells on its collar . 7-9 pounds should suffice .

We have gone above and beyond for this a hole!

collar with bell...CHECK!!!

Collar with engraved tags...CHECK!

VET Bills...CHECK!

A Hole cat....CHECk!

I'm still worried about the little a hole though...it's cold outside.

I hate the whole Idea of "pet's" They are animals and should be in the wild and not used as comfort tools by weak humans.

Thats what i am talking about , responsible cat owner . Sadly most cats roam about as they please . As i have said there are a lot of animals i will never see and i will cut cats a break here as they are not the sole reason why our marsupials are going extinct . Humans are the real problem .

Here is my opinion, as I am also entitled:

You had no business adopting an adult cat without knowing how to handle it. Animals, like people, come with baggage, and obviously this cat was scared and uncomfortable in your home. Did you think it was like a dog, that would just automatically adjust to wherever as long as you feed it? You probably didn't even think to ask about his history, whether he may be comfortable around kids, you just thought you were buying a soft toy for your kids.

I rescue cats from people such as yourself, and undo the damage done to their psyche. They become wonderful companions, but they do have their own personality and preferences which must be respected.

Cats are intelligent, sensitive, intuitive creatures, but they still retain a wild streak and as such you must understand them. People who do not are usually the cause of why so many are put down in shelters, abandoned and unloved.

Stick to a dog next time, or better yet, no pet at all.

General Tab E. Katt has spoken.

Raaarrrrh!

That's my fake cat call just in case you didn't get it.

I'm not an idiot.

We researched this cat through and through. DUH! I would never bring an animal into my home without doing my research. This cat just wasn't right from the moment we brought it home.

We spent a lot of time with it at the shelter and it was normal....very friendly even.

As soon as we brought it home it went nutzo!

PS. It's not an adult cat. It's only about 1 yr old according to the spca

Take your average cat and take your average man. Now drop them both off, butt naked in some remote mountains. Wanna bet who swaggers out of raw unforgiving nature, strong and healthy? My money will be on the cat, guaranteed it'll prove who's the real pussy.

I have nothing against them when they are kept inside or supervised, what is annoying is the owners. A dog owner must keep his dog on property and supervise him if he goes off property. Cat owners let their cats roam and all they are doing is looking for natural wild life to kill. Cant hate a cat for following its instinct but the truth of matters is they are foreign invaders into the habitat. If the owners cant be responsible they shouldn't have one, which will automatically rule a percentage of the owners. Im all for laws introduced which allows sending them to pound if caught roaming, the same rules are used on Dogs and they definitely should apply to cats as it will be the only way to sober up the percentage of lazy irresponsible ownesr.

I don't hate cats, in fact I like them a lot even had a telepathic exchange with one once that I really liked, cats were held in high repute in the ancient eygpt. Its the owners let them roam and they kill natural habitat. Cats cant be allowed out unsupervised they tend to follow their instincts which is kill every critter smaller than themselves.
