One thing I've noticed.
AGGros tend to care about gender ffffaaaarrrrr more than we do.
You criticisize someone who happens to be a woman.
They IMMEDIATELY focus on her gender and scream misogyny.
Which is a obvious deflection tactic.
I cannot count the number of times this has happened to me personally.
And I don't care about gender, I judge people by what they say, not the particulars of their birth.

I disagree with your entire post.

Of course you do...

Random guy walks into a thread so I so let's put it to the test, of what he says. How is that blindly believing him? Second we wouldn't be engaged in trolling. It's a good experiment.

It's blindly believing him, because instead of questioning the veracity of his claims, you simply say "You know that's a good point.", and then proceed to suggest a silly experiment, based on the unsubstantiated claim. If what he's saying is true, then we could go read the threads in question, and see, first hand. You might not even NEED the experiment.

In fact, I remember reading the abstract for a study(the rest of it was behind a paywall), that outlined how fake male and female personas were created for the study, and were used in online games, where they played canned male and female soundbytes over voice chat, and then documented the responses...they tried to make the case that the fake female received more hostile replies than the male... I can't remember what it was about it, but something about the thing seemed off to me, i remember that it sounded as if they had done the thing in such a way, that guaranteed that the fake female would get more hostile replies..something like being more chatty, or the voice being especially annoying, or the clips being so badly edited, that people figured out it was a fake person....something about it wasn't right.

In any event, you did just blindly accept what he said, because it fits with what you believe, instead of questioning it, like you question what myself, and other GG supporters have said....that's called confirmation bias.

What I'm saying is, we create a female online identity and put forth feminist views that we can all agree on. You've already said yourself that you agree with the basic premise of feminism and that you and others stand up for and call out any trolling/women hating posts.

I'm well aware of what you're suggesting here...But you're missing the point. Feminist views have no more business in gaming, than any other political, or ideological views....There's just no place for it there...so regardless of how innocuous, or valid, or noble the views, you're going to get shouted down, because nobody's there to talk about that crap.

Then you just said that we would get predictable results? Meaning...that my arguments are right. Any valid feminist gaming view point is instantly attacked by gamergaters/woman haters?

-sigh- so much wrong with this...you're conflating gamers, and gg...not all gamers are GG supporters, and not all GG supporters are gamers. And again, ideological, political, and social justice views, opinions, etc, have no place in gaming. THAT'S why the results are so predictable...not because gamers hate women....which is just an idiotic thing to think, given that something like 48% of gamers are women.

Sounds like you're afraid that this experiment would expose gamergate for what it is.

No, i just have a handle on how things work, and it would appear that you don't.

Just saying. It would be completely truthful and honest and we would see the results firsthand instead of relying other's veiw points.

It's still trolling. It's the deliberate posting of provocative material, in an attempt to get a rise out of people...it's purposeful s**t-stirring...

This article is so bulls**t, that it's gonna get it's own post...i'd run out of space, if i tried to address everything wrong with it, in this post.

A few things I disagreed with on your last post, but this struck me most.

"I'm well aware of what you're suggesting here...But you're missing the point. Feminist views have no more business in gaming, than any other political, or ideological views....There's just no place for it there...so regardless of how innocuous, or valid, or noble the views, you're going to get shouted down, because nobody's there to talk about that crap."

You seem to be saying that I shouldn't say or have the following view points. Keeping in mind that gaming is huge and diverse from mobile games like candy crush for old ladys to everything else. But you just said there should be no feminist viewpoints in gaming. Why would that be taboo? Why do I sense an anti feminist agenda here?

Why can't we discuss: Female lead characters that aren't overly sexualized. How to get more females involved in game development. Harrassment of females in the gaming industry. Pay rates for game developers and if they are equal across the board regardless of gender. Homosexual characters in games. Transgender characters in games. Etc. Being that gaming is so huge, all discussions are valid. All viewpoints should be allowed to be aired and discussed. Yes?

Editing to add one more point.

Is it really trolling if we were to post an article that talked about female developers in gaming and the kinds of games they are developing for one example? I wouldn't think that would be provocative, especially if all the content was sourced and true. How is truth ever provocative? And how is telling the truth trolling?

Where did i EVER say you shouldn't say or have those viewpoints? I said that going into a gaming forum, and talking about gender politics, feminism, and "social justice" nonsense is going to get you shouted down.

Why? Not because gamers hate women, and gays, and non-whites, but because it's off-topic, and inappropriate for that venue.

Keeping in mind that gaming is huge and diverse from mobile games like candy crush for old ladys to everything else.

We apparently differ on what it means to be a gamer, but whatever...the fact still remains, if you go into a gaming forum, and try talking about that stuff, you're gonna get yelled at, and declared a troll.

But you just said there should be no feminist viewpoints in gaming. Why would that be taboo? Why do I sense an anti feminist agenda here?

Perhaps we should ask the question "why do you think there SHOULD be feminist viewpoints in gaming?"...furthermore, what do you mean by "in gaming"? Do you mean the production of games(content, writing, etc)?, the discussion of games?, or are you talking about some combination of those two, in addition to demographical parity?

Why can't we discuss: Female lead characters that aren't overly sexualized.

Already been done.

How to get more females involved in game development.

Already been done. GG supporters actually rallied around TFYC's game jam, and fully funded it, after Zoe Quinn tried to sabotage it.

Harrassment of females in the gaming industry.

Already been done.

Pay rates for game developers and if they are equal across the board regardless of gender.

This eludes to the fictional "gender pay gap", and any mention of it SHOULD be mocked.

Homosexual characters in games.

I'm sure they exist...i can't think of any examples off the top of my head, but i'm sure they exist. and even if they don't, why does that matter? Why so much focus on gender, and sexual orientation?

Transgender characters in games.

Poison, from street fighter (and final fight) is transsexual. But again, why does that matter? what bearing whatsoever does it have on the quality of a game?

Being that gaming is so huge, all discussions are valid. All viewpoints should be allowed to be aired and discussed. Yes?

Sure....but doing them where it's inappropriate, is not going to get you any love......i mean, honestly, generally speaking, gamers care more about graphical fidelity, sound quality, physics, various gameplay elements, story, value for money, character development, etc.....they're not really thinking about the gender or sexual orientation of any given character...

Is it really trolling if we were to post an article that talked about female developers in gaming and the kinds of games they are developing for one example? I wouldn't think that would be provocative, especially if all the content was sourced and true. How is truth ever provocative? And how is telling the truth trolling?

I don't know that the article in itself would be considered provocative....i think it's more about this constant fixation on gender and sexual orientation....nobody cares...it's irrelevant. As with pretty much any topic, when someone comes in, and tries to FORCE you to fixate on something that isn't of any concern to you, that generates a negative response.

Now, i really must get back to this breakdown of that medium article, or i'll never finish it.

Ok, Amazing, here it is...

For those of you just joining us, here is a link to the article i will be breaking down: medium.com...@poopsockholmes/the-bad-apples-of-gamergate-ba39f8fd485

Since this is a breakdown of the factual accuracy of the article, it will be necessary for me to quote the entirety of the article, in pieces, so that i might respond to it's many points. I don't believe that posting in this fashion (as a breakdown, or critique) violates the board's rules on quoting outside content. If this post does run afoul of the rules though, i would ask that whatever moderator is reading this please appreciate and respect the cost in time and effort allocated to the writing of this post, and contact me first, to give me a chance to make appropriate edits, rather than simply deleting the post.

Now that that's out of the way...we begin...

The #GamerGate movement has been associated with harassment in the mass media since it began, but users of the hashtag on Twitter go to great lengths to claim that it is actually a campaign about “journalistic integrity,” and the harassers and woman-haters are just a few bad apples who don’t represent the whole.

In this piece, I’m going to show that a significant number of GamerGate supporters, both prominent and non, have histories of harassment, hatred and abuse. [TW] for a lot of racist, sexist and violent content throughout.

From the very first line, he doubles down on the rhetoric, and it only gets worse from there...

He sites 20 people on twitter. This is by no means, a significant sample size(statistically, or otherwise) of GG supporters, or a valid representation of GG as a whole, as the ongoing debate/argument/discussion/war is taking place in multiple venues, across multiple platforms. This article is a garbage hit piece, for reasons that will come into sharp focus, as we proceed through the list of accusations.. In fact, in some cases, the links he provides as proof of his assertions, actually show that the opposite of what he is saying is true..

Twitter user @Bendilin (Ben Spruill) is an early adopter of the #GamerGate hashtag, and prior to its launch posted several times about Zoe Quinn using the #Quinnspiracy hashtag.

In 2012, Ben Spruill created an online game in which the player clicks the face of critic Anita Sarkeesian to “punch” her, creating bruises, cuts and lesions in graphic detail.

@Bendilin uses images of violence towards women to harass and intimidate them.

Ok, so he posted tweets under the #Quinnspiracy tag....what bearing does that have on anything?

The game he created is no different than the flash games that were made back in the day, allowing you to beat up Jack Thompson....there was no moral outrage, and claims of misandry when this was happening. Seems like a double standard, and manufactured outrage, to me.

His assertion in the last line is idiotic, and smacks of desperation, and the grasping of straws.

Twitter user @JakALope044 has been a significant user of the #GamerGate hashtag and posted allegations of receiving a harassing phone call due to it.

However, several years ago before publicly identifying as female she posted a message on 4Chan with personal details of a classmate to incite the /b/ board into harassing her.

To their credit, /b/ immediately recognized that she was trying to use the site as a personal army and did not engage in harassment towards the girl.

@JakALope044 incited harassment of a woman on 4chan.

I cannot defend this person's past actions, however it's curious that the writer of this article didn't bother to site anything this person has said under the GG tag, and instead decided to focus on something that happened several years before GG even existed, to cast negative light on the person in question. Again, it smacks of desperation, and grasping at straws....something, anything to demonize a GG supporter.

This entry's hilarity is further enhanced by the last line...pointing out that someone incited harassment on 4chan is like saying fish live in water, or humans breath air...it's a thing that happens. It's like being mad at a dog for barking.

Twitter user @Todd__Kincannon was greeted with joy when the posters in the GamerGate threads on 4Chan saw him Tweeting his support for their hashtag.

Todd Kincannon, a one-time director of the South Carolina Republican Party, sent unsolicited pictures of his penis to women. He said that transgendered people should be put in concentration camps. He said that Ray Rice beating his fiancee was justified.

@ToddKincannon is a known sexual harasser and anti-woman crusader. His thoughts on people of color, homosexuals and other minorities are repugnant. GamerGate welcomed him with open arms.

Oh, where to begin with this one....It's amazing how things can be twisted to fit a narrative..

I'd like to start by saying that i really don't condone beating women. If they're smaller than you, and not as strong as you, there's really no excuse. If you're dealing with one of them diesel chicks that can benchpress a buick...well, that's another story...

Anyway, His twitter account is suspended, so his first link is a bust...no proof he tweeted in support of GG...but let's give the writer the benefit of the doubt, and assume he's not making it up, or twisting words...why not post a link to the relevent 4chan posts? or a screenshot from 4chan?

Moving along, his claim about the pictures being unsolicited is untrue..his source link for this accusation is a political satire and gossip site...basically an internet tabloid. One of the links in the article will actually take you to a site that has a screencap of an email, that quite clearly shows that the exchange of naughty photos was consensual. He's still a goddamn creeper, but he didn't just send pictures of his sausage to random chicks, as the author of this piece would have you believe.

His link for the "concentration camp" claim goes to dailykos....a site we know here to be mostly full of crap. The source link on the kos article, goes to a page that has been 404'ed so all was have is their say so that this actually happened...

And the link for the "ray rice" accusation is from a partisan hackjob of an article, that uses Kincannon as an excuse to paint all republicans as scumbags. On the one hand, she did attack him, but on the other hand, compared to him, she wasn't really all that much of a threat, so knocking her out was really kinda overkill.

So there's really no substantive evidence that any of the author makes in this entry are actually true. Even if they are, there's no proof he is affiliated with GG, or has identified as a GG supporter...and even if he does, he's ONE person. There are thousands upon thousands of other supporters that are NOT like him. Poisoning the well much?

It would appear that this is going to be a multi-part deal, because of ATS character limitations.

Please refrain from any replies, until i have finished.

Twitter user @FartToContinue is one of the most active and visible individuals in the movement, posting myriad attacks and calls to action on a daily basis.

He’s also a noted harasser of women on YouTube. Here’s a post from one of his targets.

"A little over a year ago when you started spamming my videos with accusations about my personal life and demanding answers it was the first time I ever felt scared of my viewerbase. I literally wanted to stop doing YouTube. I couldn’t handle the fact that you were able to get people to fall in line with you and demand the same things. 'How on earth can these people that claim to care about me and watch my videos be so awful when I’m obviously hurting and depressed?' ”

@FartToContinue is a harasser of women.

He starts off with a claim that the person in question "myriad attacks and calls to action on a daily basis.", with nothing to substantiate it....if ever there was a time for the phrase "Citation Needed", this would be it..

The author then goes on to site one example of bad behavior...

Now that that's out of the way, I'm actually a fan of dodger, and farttocontinue is kind of an asshole, and is probably a legit troll....if not, he's just plain f**ked in the head. Again, he's only one person, and doesn't reflect GG as a whole...he doesn't speak for us all, he's just louder..

This aside, the author doesn't present proof that farttocontinue is "harasser of women", so it's a hyped, and factually inaccurate claim.

Twitter user @Curunitar is the third Twitter account created by the same person to support #GamerGate.

His communications are overwhelmingly harassing and violent, including (in a Tweet deleted when his previous account was deactivated) calling for the shooting of game designer Mike Sacco and his fiancee.

@Curunitar has made threats of violence towards men and women.

There is absolutely NOTHING presented to substantiate ANY of the claims made here. Not saying they didn't happen, but there's nothing to support anything he's said here.

Twitter user @RogueStarGamez has been active in the #GamerGate movement since before the hashtag was coined, showing up repeatedly in the IRC chatroom dedicated to harassing Zoe Quinn.

He was banned from the chatroom for repeatedly suggesting the use of “black hat” tactics to attack Zoe Quinn, but he has remained active in organizing many #GamerGate boycotts and operations.

In addition, RogueStarGamez is an independent game developer. His project, FleetComm, was funded on Kickstarter in May of 2012 with final delivery promised to backers in August of 2012. Delays are perfectly normal in Kickstarter projects, but as of October of 2014 the game has not even reached a public Beta state. Despite that, RogueStar launched (and failed) ANOTHER Kickstarter for a completely new game in 2014, even as backers of FleetComm were wondering where the game they paid for was.

@RogueStarGamez has acted unethically in his business and publicly stated his willingness to use illegal methods to harm Zoe Quinn.

The first line is nonsense, because how can you be involved with GG, before GG exists? (time travel?) This line alone, should give you a pretty good idea of the kind of mental gymnastics this author is capable of. Near as i can tell, he's conflating #Quinnspiracy, and #GamerGate, in order to lend weight to his argument, despite the fact that they are separate entities, with entirely different purposes, and goals..

The link that would substantiate his second claim, is bogus, so there goes that...

The next claim is a bit tricky. Yes, as of october, 2014, the game had not reached beta status, but as long as the dev is updating backers on it's status, i'm failing to see the problem. This really just reads like a desperate attempt to paint the person in question as unethical...as a thief and a hack...

So again, all flash, no substance....

Twitter user @Rabite, aka “weev,” announced his support for GamerGate in October on his LiveJournal and Twitter.

@Rabite, real name Andrew Auernheimer, is a notorious troll who is implicated in the doxxing of writer Kathy Sierra and numerous other events. In addition, he has a tattoo of a swastika on his chest and wrote:

“I look on Google Street View and see the place I used to live in, before I was kidnapped at gunpoint and held in foreign territories based on the lies of blacks and Jews.”

@Rabite is an admitted white supremacist.

He's a white supremacist? So's Ian Miles Cheong, but the Anti side seems perfectly happy to have him. Additionally, This one person doesn't make all GG supporters bigots, any more than Ian makes all Anti-GG'ers bigots...this is pure "guilt by association" bulls**t...

Twitter user @Kingofpol is one of the most prolific voices in the #GamerGate movement, posting frequently and appearing on many live video streams.

In many of those streams, he indulges in anti-Semitic speech, speaking about “Jewish conspiracies” to control the media and espousing Nazi beliefs. In addition, he recently went on a Twitter tirade attempting to use his status as a mental health nurse to convince an individual with obsessive-compulsive disorder that she had additional psychological problems because of her opposition to GamerGate.

@Kingofpol is an anti-Semite who abuses his position in the mental health field to “diagnose” people who disagree with him.

Again, nothing to substantiate the claims. The twitter conversation makes no mention of the person having OCD, and only bits and pieces of the conversation are presented, so it's hard to tell in what context these things were being said. Additionally, he presents nothing to substantiate the claims of Anti-Semitism, or espousal of Nazi beliefs...

As per godwinns law, this entry loses all credibility....

Twitter user @Thidran has been a prolific tweeter of the #GamerGate hashtag, frequently advancing the view that it is a “consumer revolt.” He can also be seen in many comment sections of articles about GamerGate pushing that viewpoint.

He was also a significant presence in the IRC chatroom created to harass Zoe Quinn. In those logs, he encourages people to post information taken from the hack of Phil Fish, discusses using the Fine Young Capitalists for “good PR” and plans strategy for a long-term campaign.

Aug 24 14.25.13 This whole thing is social engineering warfare, and we’re out of practice.
Aug 24 14.25.35 We need to get INTO practice, because this is going to be relevant for a long time.

@Thidran participated in the harassment campaign against Zoe Quinn from the beginning.

Ok, in order...

It is, primarily, a consumer revolt.

Citation Needed.

Citation Needed.

Citation Needed.

Citation Needed.

Out of context quote.

Citation Needed.

Honestly, this really is yellow journalism at it's finest...

Twitter user @MundaneMatt was one of the first individuals to publicize the Zoe Quinn “scandal” by means of a YouTube video, which was promptly taken down by a DMCA complaint. He has been active in GamerGate since then.

Mundane Matt’s videos are resoundingly anti-woman. In one, he calls Anita Sarkeesian “a loud mouth woman who doesn’t know when to shut the # up.” In another (removed from public view since this article was posted, but Google cache confirms it existed), he questions whether the gang rape of 17 year old Rehteah Parsons that led to her suicide even happened because she was “being flirtatious” and “egging the boys on.”

@MundaneMatt consistently expresses public viewpoints that are overwhelmingly negative and derogatory to the female gender.

What the author doesn't mention is that the DMCA was a false claim, filed by Zoe Quinn herself, because she didn't like what he had to say. Youtube investigated, found that the claim was false, restored the video, and removed the copyright strike from his account. She filed a false DMCA claim, to silence a critic. That's just one of the problems with this entire article: Poorly researched, one sided reporting...it's a hit piece, plain and simple..

OK, so moving right along...I actually have watched quite a few of MundaneMatt's videos...i can't say that he's never said anything anti-women, but i can say that i've never really heard him say anything that would make me think he's anti-woman...I think the author is reaching again....the quote he takes from the video is taken out of context...watch the video, you'll see what i mean. As to the allegation about the other video, the cache link the author provides, is a 404, so there's no actual proof that the video in question ever existed...but let's play devil's advocate for a moment, and say sure, it existed..... Given the author's sterling track record for proper research, and his propensity for taking quotes out of context, to fit a narrative, i think it's pretty safe to say that he's probably full of s**t on this claim as well....

Twitter user @AdamBaldwin is an actor who coined the #GamerGate hashtag when he retweeted the factually inaccurate video claiming that Zoe Quinn slept with game journalists in exchange for positive reviews. He has been active in the tag since then.

Baldwin has publicly compared gay marriage to incest, untruthfully claimed that game designer Mike Sacco had a journalist fired (then deleted his tweets), and implied that President Obama wanted Ebola in America.

@AdamBaldwin has consistently disseminated false information with a strong anti-woman, anti-gay viewpoint.

This one is VERY easy to debunk....

Here's the video in question: www.youtube.com...
And since the video is a mirror, in the interest of thoroughness, here's the Imgur gallery that was in the description of the original: imgur.com...

The cool part is that the above links actually kill two birds with one stone, as it talks not only about the Mundane Matt situation, with the false DMCA claim, but it also discusses the journalistic corruption that was the starting point for GG.

Nowhere in that video, does the narrator say that Zoe Quinn traded sex for positive reviews, so that's an outright lie. This is a lie that is CONSTANTLY parroted by the Anti-GG'ers...that GG supporters make the claim that Quinn traded sex for reviews. This claim was debunked in the very early days of GG, and nobody that supports GG makes that claim anymore, because it's provably false.

Next we have the claim that Baldwin compared gay marriage to incest. This also did not actually happen, and source link that the author provides, proves it. Baldwin was actually speaking to the absurdity of tax avoidance marriages..

Next is the claim that Baldwin "untruthfully claimed that game designer Mike Sacco had a journalist fired". This another claim that is very handily disproved by the author's own source link.

And then there's the claim that Baldwin claimed that obama wanted ebola in america...the link goes nowhere, but i'm pretty sure, given the author's track record, that whatever Baldwin said, the author was taking it out of context, and twisting it.

So yeah, this entire entry is complete and utter bollocks.

Twitter user @SargonOfAkkad has created numerous videos about #GamerGate with a focus on a conspiracy of “feminist corruption” at play in games journalism and design.

Sargon’s videos are overflowing with sexist and hateful language. He refers to a feminist as “the skinniest Downs syndrome sufferer I’ve ever seen.”

@SargonOfAkkad is a resoundingly anti-woman commentator who makes no attempt to hide his disdain for the female gender.

In the interest of full disclosure, I would like to note at this time, that i am a subscriber to Sargon's youtube channel, and am a fan of his work.

Watching his videos proves that the assertions made in this entry are utter crap. Sargon is anti-feminist, not anti-woman. He's also anti-stupid, and anti-ignorance...come to think of it, he'd probably fit in pretty well here. Now, when i say Anti-Feminist, i'm talking about radical third-wave feminism, and it's army of ignorant, misguided supporters. Sargon is all for equality, and stands for the same humanist values that i do....but hey, this is a hit piece, so it's no surprise that the author chooses to characterize Sargon in the way that he does.

The quote he takes, is out of context...if you watch the video in question, this becomes quite obvious.

Twitter user @RSMccain is Robert Stacy McCain, a conservative columnist who has publicly announced his support for GamerGate.

McCain has made multiple offensive statements about race and sex in America, including:

“The media now force interracial images into the public mind and a number of perfectly rational people react to these images with an altogether natural revulsion.”

and:

"The decline of white America in recent decades has gone hand-in-hand with a decline in moral standards.”

RSMcCain’s views on race are odious and he is happily welcomed into GamerGate.

Again, we see the author taking quotes out of context, and twisting them to paint the person in question as a hateful bigot, and by association, all of GG as hateful bigots.

In the first quote, he is talking about the social commentary made by a book from the 60's, and in the second, he is talking about a loss of good christian values, in white americans...The author's own source link disproves his assertions and insinuations.

It's almost as if the author is depending on the people reading his article to be too stupid to fact-check his article, and is hoping that confirmation bias will cause them to simply accept it at face value... It's almost as if he thinks the reader is too stupid to actually read the content of the source links..

Twitter user @Aurini is Davis Aurini, one of the men behind the proposed documentary “The Sarkeesian Effect.” He has posted multiple times in support of #GamerGate and the Patreon page for his documentary promotes it.

Davis Aurini is a “race realist” who claims that there is an increased genetic propensity for crime in Black people. He also refers to women as “flitting dogs” and “the most decadent sluts since the fall of Rome.”

@Aurini is a promoter of anti-woman and anti-PoC rhetoric and GamerGate is funding his documentary.

First paragraph: Guilt by association.

The claim about Aurini claiming black people are genetically predisposed to crime, is, as i'm sure you've figured out by now, nonsense.

In this instance, the author doesn't even bother quoting Aurini out of context, he just makes up a quote, whole cloth.. Aurini was talking about a difference in instances of criminal activity between whites and blacks, and cited an FBI study:

"When it comes to violence, there is a very large gap between white and black incidences of violence. According to the "Color of Crime" survey done by the FBI, and they do it every 5 or 10 years or so, it's between 7.5 and 8 times as likely that a black person will commit a violent crime as a white person. That is an absolutely enormous difference. And that fact is something that's important to remember in your day to day life. Just as you avoid high crime neighborhoods, it does make sense to avoid events where there's going to be a predominantly black population attending, just for your own safety. That's a fact... It's not racist, it's a fact."

Does this say to you "black people are genetically predisposed to be criminals"?

And the anti-woman comments are taken from a screed about equality and women receiving preferential treatment in society...while he makes a few somewhat decent points, i don't really agree with his statements. Point is, the author quoted him out of context, for maximum effect, and then appears to have banked on people not actually looking at the material in the source links.

Aurini is kind of a creeper, and i don't really agree too much with what he has to say, but i'm still failing to see what any of the stuff cited here has to do with GG. GG isn't funding his documentary...individual people are. And that's only because Sarkeesian is a fraud, and those people have likely been supporting the documentary since before there was a GamerGate.

Twitter user @AVoiceForMen is Paul Elam, owner and operator of the web site avoiceformen.com. Elam has commented on GamerGate numerous times in support of its actions.

Here are Paul Elam’s thoughts on rape victims:

“they are stupid (and often arrogant) enough to walk though life with the equivalent of a I’M A STUPID, CONNIVING BITCH – PLEASE RAPE ME neon sign glowing above their empty little narcissistic heads.”

In addition, Elam funneled money donated to his site into his own pockets to pay for his personal living expenses.

Paul Elam is virulently anti-woman and unethical.

I can't really defend this guy...i just can't...there's never an excuse for rape....sorry....

For what it's worth, i will say that the author did quote him out of context...but even when in the proper context of the piece it was plucked from, it's still pretty much indefensible...

Additionally, what this guy does with donations is up to him, and has nothing to do with GG, or ethics in game journalism..this is just more guilt by association crap.

Twitter user @BloomfieldJanet is the Social Media Director for Paul Elam’s “A Voice For Men” site. She has been a vocal supporter of the #GamerGate hashtag.

In October, under her previous Twitter name @JudgyBitch1, Bloomfield Tweeted a doctored screenshot found on Facebook of Anita Sarkeesian’s Twitter account in an attempt to defame her.

This isn’t the first time Bloomfield has done so — in August, she did the same thing to feminist writer Jessica Valenti. Twitter eventually deleted her @JudgyBitch1 account to prevent her from continuing in this harassment.

@BloomfieldJanet creates fake Tweets to libel her enemies in a clear breach of ethics.

I can't really defend this one either....she's a pretty lousy person.

The sad part is that she didn't even need to tweet a doctored screenshot...Sarkeesian tweets every time there's a school shooting, and blames it on "patriarchy", and "toxic masculinity". And Valenti says enough idiotic s**t, where she didn't NEED to create fake tweets...the things these two ACTUALLY say, are far worse than anything that was made up...

Again, guilt by association.

Twitter user @JordanOwen42 is the other co-creator of the Sarkeesian Effect documentary and a frequent user of the GamerGate hashtag.

He has created a staggering 60+ videos about Anita Sarkeesian, calling her an “obvious con artist” and other pejoratives. Some of these videos are in excess of four hours long.

@JordanOwen42 displays an obsession with Anita Sarkeesian that could best be described as troubling.

It's funny...the only thing the author can say about this guy is that he "displays an obsession with Anita Sarkeesian that could best be described as troubling." It's no more troubling than any of the other youtubers out there who do their best to expose frauds....

Tumblr user @#tywebcomics has posted multiple times in support of the #GamerGate hashtag.

On the blog, an early anonymous report by an alleged games writer was hosted. The post claimed that “SJW” ideology had infested the gaming journalism business and that people were being forced out because of it. The Gamergate movement took this unsourced statement as absolute truth and spread it widely. Despite the blog’s title, much of its contents consist of often violent anti-woman, anti-PoC sentiments.

“women see how much rape victims get coddled, and they decide they want a piece of the action. the result is that real rape victims (the very few real ones) have both their suffering and their recovery cheapened by an army of phonies. black people could pull themselves up by their boot straps and achieve something on their own, or they can whine loudly to anyone who will listen that they are victims of “the white man.”

@#tywebcomics is violently racist and anti-woman and GamerGate proudly took early support from his blog and continues to link to it.

So one person's opinion, is somehow indicative of the beliefs of all of GG? Sounds like more guilt by association.

Anyone who's been reading game news sites for the last few years though already knows that SJW ideology has infected the industry, and severely colored the tone, tenor, and content of the reporting...

Cont from last. -FINAL PART-

Twitter user @JackOutisBurn3 is a frequent user of the #GamerGate hashtag and a poster on Paul Elam’s “A Voice For Men” site.

In an article on the site, Outis admits to harassing women on Twitter, including Tweeting them about being raped.

@JackOutisBurn3 is an admitted anti-woman troll who is happily welcomed in #GamerGate

This is another case of guilt by association, combined with factual inaccuracy...

Firstly, he makes the link that because this dude posts on "A Voice For Men", he must be evil....riiiiight..

Then he talks about harassment....funny thing is that the source link is him talking about trolling the 7th most hated person on reddit, according to worldwide rankings...a person who's views, opinions, statements, and character are considered so vile, so repugnant, so indefensible, that nobody would be bothered if he trolled this person. I guess he was wrong...it never ceases to amaze me..the propensity for SJWs to find things to take offense to, or cry foul about.

In his post, Jack points out how he only trolls really lousy people...it's not as if he's targeting ONLY women...

The author of this hit piece is such a hack.

Twitter user @EvilBobDALMYT proclaims himself “#GamerGate Firebrand” in his bio and has been active in the tag since the beginning.

He is also present in the IRC chat logs, including having operator status on the channel. He at many points hunts for and provides personal information about the individuals speculated to have had sexual relations with Zoe Quinn. And that’s not counting the general gross, sexist and transphobic language.

Aug 31 20.25.26 i.imgur.com... These are the types of tranny bitches we’re dealing with.

@EvilBobDALMYT participated in the harassment campaign against Zoe Quinn since the beginning.

I'm honestly not even sure what to say to this...

I don't think investigating the people associated with the controversy counts as "harassment". How else do you fact-check claims?

As to the language..i'm sure there's some kind of meaning being attributed to the words, that is outside the norm of how we'd use them....kinda like the chan boards have their own internal slang and lingo...i don't spend much time on IRC anymore, so i have no clue. How is talking in an IRC channel, "harassment"? I don't get it, and it really feels like more desperate grasping at straws...

So when Anita Sarkeesian tweeted that “gamergate is the new name for a group that has been harassing me for 2 years,” she was factually correct. Many of the most consistent users of #GamerGate are inextricably linked to harassment of Ms. Sarkeesian and other women. I’ve just shown you 20 of them, all of whom are happily welcomed into the GamerGate movement and not censured in any way for their actions. I’m sure this list will grow as more people share their experiences.

Actually, no, she wasn't factually correct. Criticism isn't harassment, calling attention to the fact that she's a fraud, and professional victim, that profits handsomely from being a victim, isn't harassment. Documenting her lies and hypocrisy isn't harassment.

These people have spent the last two years harassing and demeaning women in and out of the games industry. You know what they haven’t spent the last two years doing? Talking about ethics in journalism.

Could that be because GG hasn't even been in existence for an entire year yet? How could GG talk about ethics in journalism before it even existed?

There may be ethical, honest people involved in #GamerGate. But a few good apples won’t magically make a rotten barrel edible. And #GamerGate is rotten to the core.

Doesn't stop you from painting the whole lot with the same broad "guilt by association" brush, based on a statistically insignificant sampling of people you cherry-picked, for maximum effect, now does it, sunshine? Ever heard the idiom "throw out the baby with the bath water", you ignorant dips**t?

This article is a hit piece, full stop, from start to finish...

One of the core problems with this thing, is that the author consistently makes claims, and provides nothing to substantiate them. Just because someone says something is so, doesn't make it so.

I could write a piece here on ATS, that makes the claims that Bill (SkepticOverlord) is a reptilian shapeshifter, here to harvest our collective intellect, for nefarious ends, and that Mark (Springer) is a transsexual nazi eskimo, who burns jews, and eats babies......without anything to substantiate those claims, i'd be laughed off the board, and probably banned for defamation.

This guy is a hack, and his article is garbage, and Amazing, i'm actually kind of pissed at you, for not fact-checking it before presenting it..

That's it, i'm done, comment away.

uh, but it is. And how will it stop if people keep talking about it, it'll never stop with your logic? You guys/gals still obsessed over this, the world has moved on, other things have happened since the start of this...it was a dumb subject/thing from the get go, but here you still are. Get outside or something. It was a somewhat mainstream media thing for awhile, but even they dropped it. It was an opportunistic ploy, media indulged briefly, then they left and the media and others don't give a crap anymore. This isn't some sort of new MLK thing that is happening here.

Seriously though. I've seen this on ATS, where really the 5% of my post that I don't even care about, is the thing that gets commented on. And anything resembling intelligence, ignored. Don't bother quoting or replying if that's the case. The crux of my post, you ignored. You know you did, and intentionally missed the point. You need to get off if that's what you're going to do, and again, it's no wonder this is "being still made into a thing", because the way it's going about, is just going in circles for the scenic view.

Then fine, but don't hold a position and pretend it's important. Wasting peoples' time and energy.

Does remind me though, a huge majority of these "male gamers" are like freshmen in high school...they're MINORS. And how old are some of these women on the other side? I'll actually look...the first one I saw, Brianna Wu, is 35!!!! She is more than double the age of these young, guy gamers!! Would a 35 year old guy, heavily invest himself into what 14 year old girls are doing? NO! Even, if somehow, he was in the "right", he'd be considered a pedophile!! How's that for feminism/equality!

There is a legit generational gap between those age groups, to the extent that "rock and roll is the devil's music". And really to make it much worse, the young people never had a time period where the internet wasn't around, and this women for example, was already half way done with college when the internet went mainstream!!! That is a gigantic difference, and if anyone was wronged, it should be the younger crowd, because being that old you should know better. And ultimately, they're using this younger generation as essentially "slave laborers", and piggy backing off of them, at their expense so they can go off and write a book/do speeches and make a living/career off of it! Congrats for taking advantage of kids, to make money, real stellar and impressive work there.

Perhaps the "white male", with their CEO positions, greatly hindered their ability to achieve the financial success they wanted, but hey, this is equality.

Being young doesn't give a person the right to be a fool. But you have a point. The newer generation is pretty disgusting. And they are the ones wronged by the older generation. Not being taught how to behave and treat other people. They are a symptom of a sick society.

uh, but it is.

Clearly, it is not.

And how will it stop if people keep talking about it, it'll never stop with your logic?

It will stop when the VG press is held accountable for their actions, when they start acting in an ethical fashion, when they, and the MSM stop working with the SJW set, and stop defaming an entire cultural demographic(gamers) and making s**t up, to fit their nonsensical narratives and agendas....

This isn't like modern femisism, where they've "made good progress, but there's still a long way to go", with no end in sight....the stop conditions are very easy to meet..

You guys/gals still obsessed over this, the world has moved on, other things have happened since the start of this...

Obsessed....right...you clearly don't get it.

As to moving on..i suppose that's why GG is still talked about, is still very much in the public consciousness...i guess that's why it's still being written about, and demonized. I guess that's why professional victims like Quinn, Sarkeesian, and Wu are STILL getting publicity, still getting interviews, and still raking in obscene amounts of sympathy money....because the world's moved on....sure.

Yes, other things have happened, but that doesn't mean that this has been forgotten, or that it isn't still a thing.

it was a dumb subject/thing from the get go, but here you still are.

Right, because expecting ethical standards is stupid..... -rolls eyes-

Get outside or something.

lol, because being rude and dismissive is the proper way to "win" a discussion.

It was a somewhat mainstream media thing for awhile, but even they dropped it.

You sure about that, sunshine? Looks like they're still covering it, still making up lies, still demonizing people....

It was an opportunistic ploy

By whom, for what purpose, and to what end?

media indulged briefly, then they left and the media and others don't give a crap anymore.

Keep telling yourself that.. I'll be camped out here, in the real world...when you're ready to pull your head out of the sand, you let me know.

This isn't some sort of new MLK thing that is happening here.

It never was, and nobody ever said it was.....this line, right here, tells me you have NO idea what the hell this thing is about, how it started...any of it..

I ignored nothing, and i got your point just fine....I didn't bother addressing it, because i agreed with it.

There is a clear double-standard at work...women can criticize men to the end of time, but level those same criticisms at women, and suddenly, you're a misogynist, and a sexist, and the worst kind of garbage....it's alright for them to call us rapists, and harassers, and a misogynist hate mob, and "worse than ISIS"(we really have been characterized in those exact words), and this is all because we dared to criticize a woman....things are totally out of whack.

You need to get off if that's what you're going to do, and again, it's no wonder this is "being still made into a thing", because the way it's going about, is just going in circles for the scenic view.

Naw...that's not entirely accurate.

Then fine, but don't hold a position and pretend it's important. Wasting peoples' time and energy.

Importance is relative, depending on who you talk to...you may collect baseball cards, and that's important to you...i, personally, wouldn't consider that very important. I believe ethical practices in games journalism is important, for a number of reasons....i also very much dislike all this politically correct, feminist, SJW nonsense being forced on us...

So this thing holds a certain degree of importance to me...perhaps you don't share that view, and that's completely alright, but i would ask that you not besmirch me for it.

The first page had promise, but then on the about page they have a full blown discourse defending gamergate. These peeps should have moved on to actual ethics in gaming journalism. They're mired in the muck with the mysoginists and the trolls. Move on peeps, move on.
