On one hand i like to know what is really going on in the world and dont agree with being wrapped in cotton wool so liveleak is one of my favourite websites because it doesn't censor reality but i dont think major news stations should broadcast such things because its giving the people who commit these crimes publicity, and its also a lack of respect for the deceased and the family,if you were burnt alive would you be happy to know that the whole ordeal is broadcast to the world and that it would be giving the people who did it exactly what they wanted?

Edit: It seems i need to make a correction as it appears that liveleak are refusing to host ISIS videos, possibly to avoid promoting its propaganda.

Ive also just watched the video in full for the first time and something just doesn't seem right to me,this ISIS has some of the slickest camera work and video editing around,i cant help but feel that ISIS are funded by the US ,similiar to how they used al-qaida to further the war agenda.

And another thing how come they released the full video footage but they didn't show us the previous beheadings unedited?

There really is a huge difference.

The wikileaks footage wasn't released by an incredibly wealthy and influential news corporation, purely for the purpose of stirring s**t on both sides, which is what Fox have done with this murder porn.

KILLING a live HUMAN BEING on TELEVISION is NOT OKAY.

I'd prefer to think that killing a live human being at all is not okay, whether or not it's on TV.

But, if they are going to do it, I would rather the world has the opportunity to see the ugly truth.

In fact the world could really do with a big dose of some ugly truth, because much of the bad stuff that happens - both at home and abroad - finds its roots in the "best intentions" of people with a completely unrealistic view of the world.

Yes, yes I would. Because if people took this more seriously they would move past the shock, awe, and terror (which is what ISIS want) and use it to open their eyes and build resolve.

ISIS want to shock and disgust you so badly that you can't even bear to watch them as they act with impunity - that is the display of power for ISIS. "Look at what we did - except you're too frightened to look, hah!"

So, which of us is giving ISIS "exactly what they wanted"?

Theoretically if the media refused to show any footage or pictures and just delivered the news in text form there would be no incentive for ISIS to do it again, why bother killing someone and sending the footage to news outlets if they won't play it?

I've got nothing to back it up but I think ISIS is a false flag operation, its Al Qaida all over again

One thing is for sure and the media coverage from ISIS killing a muslim really helped turn the tide and pissed off the other muslim countries in the region... So in this case coverage might be a good weapon.

Destabilising the reason or working towards stabilising it... However you might choose to look at it.

Read an interesting article calling the battle of kobane where isis got their asses handed to them and burning al-kasasbe could be their "nazi battle of stalingrad".

They're only videoing it because they can. They've been beheading and terrorizing for hundreds of years.

Not showing it would have zero impact on their goals. They don't want fame, they want a one world religion. THEIR religion.

Except that videos of this nature are NOT being shown to educate the public on atrocities committed, which need not be visualized to grasp, but instead these videos are being shown to further a very specific agenda; that in itself is completely at odds with what a media organization is supposed to represent.

I know that this is nothing new but previous videos of this type never made such a spectical of it ,it's like something from a movie, they have gone to a lot of effort on filming and editing the video and the hard work pays off when we broadcast it on tv

I said somewhere in this thread that there's more than one layer to this story - you just brought up several yourself

I'm no fan of Fox - I've been pretty obvious about that here at ATS. So, yeah - I'm biased

This latest decision of theirs just smells

I've been hoping to get more opinions on this and not just the usual ATS partisan bickering

Honestly - to me Jiggy this story should really and truly bother most of us, and for more than one reason

Thanks for that post

Murdoch is to the news what the Kochs are to politics. That level of influence deserves some scrutiny

Yep! Except there's that eternal question of whether or not politicians are just as influential at Fox and are in bed with Murdoch anyway. I suspect that they are all in cahoots.

I can't remember where, but a while ago I was reading about how Fox allows politicians to DICTATE what they air.
Karl Rove comes to mind.

Holy Jesus folks, what are we so upset about?? Fox shows an uncensored, unedited video and we all get pissed?? Seriously guys?

The Internet has been showing these full uncensored videos forever, we going to riot about that too?

Al-jezzera has been putting these vids out since the start of the war in Afghanistan.

We supposed to keep pretending its not happening so Obama and his Muslim overlords don't get upset with us?

Not worse, just the same.

The ever trusted MSM is showing its true colours now. About time people stopped believing the crap they peddle.
