Ya, I'm pretty sure that is exactly the point. He's comparing the two so that everyone sees how similar they are and act. You know so both sides stop trying to claim the moral high ground over the other when both clearly are guilty of similar acts in our history. It's really rather simple once you stop and look at it without taking it personal.
