I thought the same thing. It can't be an inflatable safety float right? Maybe a section of the plane where the windows are smaller?

Reports are 58 on board, with 10-12 trapped, and at least 10 survivors rescued.

windows look the right size to me. And those images of the descent are quite dreadful indeed. oh man the feeling of relief the survivors must have had after opening their eyes and realize they were not having a discussion with the afterlife. I have to wonder though, why is this happening so much lately in Asia???

I promised not to fly again after 2012 and I havnt. The only exceptions I will make is a helicopter flying under 500 feet. other than that, these feet stay right here on Gods multi-colored Earth.

Asia is expanding faster than anywhere in the world, and has major cultural issues with crew coordination. This leads yo situations where they get in trouble fast.

Man it looks like just a few mere feet and that would have hit the road and maybe cartwheeled into the river, or something worse and a bigger mess. I'm thinking the passengers were pretty lucky all considered. Crazy capture of those photos ... Wow

Reports 8 killed .

They're reporting 53/5 on board. So far eight confirmed fatalities. The flight was from Taipei to the Kinmen Islands. They hit a raised overpass just after takeoff.

It was flight GE235.

The wingtip hit the front of the cab in the picture.

There's dash cam video of it. The plane is descending, and suddenly the left wing drops and it plummets. I can't see it clearly enough to tell but it acted like they lost an engine.

a reply to: Zaphod58 ahh yes you are correct. I zoomed the picture and it does look like the wing cut through the wall in the highway, bridge? I'm only looking at this pictures posted though, didn't see the dash cam video. Therecaxlink to that maybe?

The driver of the taxi was taken to hospital with a head injury and a concussion but is in a stable condition

Head injury, concussion, and pants filled with poop.

From the two different videos it looks like it may have clipped it's left wing prior to hitting the taxi and bridge. Just what it appears from the video, hopefully those that perished did not suffer.
