Autumn's End

So passed the colors of seasons;
One by one the leaves fell from
their pedestals as fallen heroes
to the darkened earth.

Time crumbled and slipped away
like golden dust around silken fingers.
Once timeless fires now lay quenched
in shallow graves, finding no rest.

And so it was learned never
to fear the setting of a warm sun,
the death of a champion,
or the fading of an ideology
long since failed.
