Russia and Iran sign military cooperation deal.

Iran and Russia signed an agreement Tuesday to expand military ties in a visit to Tehran by the Russian defense minister.

Sergei Shoigu, in remarks carried by Russian news agencies, said Moscow wants to develop a "long-term and multifaceted" military relationship with Iran. He said that the new agreement includes expanded counter-terrorism cooperation, exchanges of military personnel for training purposes and an understanding for each country's navy to more frequently use the other's ports.

Iran's Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan urged greater cooperation as a means of opposing American ambitions in the region. Moscow and Tehran have staunchly supported Syrian President Bashar Assad throughout Syria's civil war, while Washington advocates regime change and supports rebel groups.
"Iran and Russia are able to confront the expansionist intervention and greed of the United States through cooperation, synergy and activating strategic potential capacities," Dehghan said. "As two neighbors, Iran and Russia have common viewpoints toward political, regional and global issues."

When all else fails, compare your enemies to the Germans. Or to people like Hitler and Hans Gruber. We must realize that often times alliances are more about a temporary unification to achieve a common goal. What is the common goal between Russia and Iran? Clearly it has something to do with stopping the US in some capacity. Iran is concerned about the influence of the US in the Middle East, and Russia is upset over sanctions and the overall way they have been slapped around recently, not literally of course. So this strengthening of their alliance, at this particular time, does not seem all that odd to me. Iran would not make a huge stand without the backing of a powerhouse nation like Russia. They know as well as we do that the US will NEVER go to war with Russia. At least not all-out, WWII-style war. The US military is spread relatively thin at the moment, mainly because our goals and strategies do not hinge on Russia, as they did during the Cold War. That is not to say Russia could beat the US in a war, and to be honest the devastation would be horrible for many, meaning that nobody really wins. There is little chance that such a war could remain conventional. It will likely go nuclear at some point, and it is because of this that war will be avoided.

US aggression that leads to boots on the ground will only be done in nations that can be whipped by the US. Vietnam aside, although the government really thought they could win. They should have as well, but that is beyond the point I suppose. And Vietnam is not always considered as aggression on the part of the US anyway. Depends on how you view it. No doubt it was also a political power play in Asia. It is no secret that Iran is on the US' "due for a regime change" list. As far as Israel is concerned, they are one of the few nations that will attack as soon as they perceive they are going to be attacked. They will not wait for the attack. History has proven this, even recently, as discussed in the article. I do find it hard to believe that Iran and Russia would coordinate attacks along Israel's border. It makes no sense. What is the objective? In war the goal is never simply to kill people. That is a means to an end. Therefore it seems possible that this is a lie meant to garner support for another war, or escalation of tension, by the Israel and maybe the US. I just don't think Iran or Russia are that stupid. They would not undertake military actions that have absolutely no point, knowing that this will cause retaliatory strikes.

You've got a great thread here. You've put a lot of time into it - and I happen to agree with a great deal of what you're posting. I wish you would change the title so it's not quite so offensive to people who are not so in the 'know'.

Sheeple is an acceptable label for those who 'know' and hide their head of blindly believe MSM - but here on ATS? We're trying to educate people into opening their eyes and focus on the real issues - with some help... It would be great to get those people - who might not read your thread due to the title - 'in here' to read this juicy news.

Did you see the republicans stand up when Obama talked about going after ISIS in Iraq and Syria? That's something they all agreed on. War economy world-wide. Create the problem and arm the other side. When the other side becomes the problem, fund the solution. Until the solution becomes the problem. The people wonder why peace can never be obtained. The media explains it to them to fit the narrative.

It'll be some numbers on a graph on how the economy is getting better in a future State of the Union address. You might even get a tax write off to bury your children who die in it.

No matter how it will end, there is always the Samson Option.

Hopefully, in a balanced world, if the US can't make his mind about his own interst, Russia has the capacities to prevent this from happening.

I am fine with the whole idea of this, but when push comes to shove the USA and Israel will fight the entire Earth together if they (we) have to! Nuclear weapons should be a last option, but if they get pushed around who knows what will happen! The whole "can't we all just get along" idea has gone to pass and things are gearing up for what many may not want to believe because the bible speaks about it, but this is coming and quicker than I am comfortable with honestly! I said once the temple is rebuilt for Jesus, then we can worry....Then I found a news link, which I can't currently locate about the temple is already built...Sometime last year! This is all I could find at quick glance, it is from 2013...www.al-monitor.com...#
