Congress Makes NASA Finish Useless $350 Million Structure

Saw this today and was horrified!

How was the congressmen involved not charged with some form of corruption? Is this sort of thing the norm in America?

No wonder NASA is still hitching rides withe the Russians if Nasa is being milked for money like this.....

I mean WTF! WTF?

Did not know if to post this here or the space forum. But as this is utter madness and down to the US congress I think the best homes here.

I mean WTF. $350 million plus upkeep for a project that is not needed just to keep a state senator happy? If that is not blatant corruption I have no idea what is!

Just another case to drive home the fact that we are totally moronic in america.

Just another case of lawyers telling scientist how to do their job.

No worries.

The current administration will just raise taxes on the evil rich to replace the money they blow.

I did think the same

But

Unfortunately I think the job was so specialized I don't think it can be as it was designed for that one particular engine.

IKBI Inc.
GenCorp
Tutor Perini Corp.
Aerojet Rocketdyne
American Tank & Vessel Inc.
M&D Mechanical Contractors Inc.

Follow the money.

I bet a few members of Congress have some money invested in any one of these companies. How else could you justify the waste if you weren't getting something in return? I'll dig a little and see if I can find a connection, even though Congress keeps their portfolios tight to their chest.

Martin highlighted the A-3 as an example of how efforts to cut costs and get rid of unneeded facilities are blocked by lawmakers.

Why wouldn't they cut waste unless it affected them directly?

Much as I violently disagree with NEO on most things

He does kinda have a point.

That sort of wast full spending the money has to come from somewhere and that will likely be in taxes.

Only thing I sort of disagree on is blaming only the current administration as this sort fo spending is not a new thing it seems

More government insanity at it's finest. The 57 million left in the construction budget could be well used on other projects that have immediate needs. Then they're going to spend 1 million annually to maintain the biggest door stop in the country? Yep, makes perfect sense.

Hell half done frozen over.

Yep.

Both Right, and LEFT do their 'fair share' of blowing cash.

And it is from taxation that doeth fund them champagne wishes, and caviar schemes.

All on a Walmart paycheck.

NASA could have sent a probe out for that.
