Here`s another one about it...

Finland most vulnerable to Russian gas cut-off

Finland would experience gas shortages even if Russia cut off exports just for one month, while other EU countries would last between three to nine months without Russian gas, according to a German study.

Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Greece, the Balkan countries and Estonia would feel the effects of a six-month embargo.

Meanwhile, if Russia switches off the tap for nine months, gas supplies in Germany, Italy and France would be "severely affected" and a total of 46 billion cubic metres of European gas demand could not be served.

The Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia would also have problems, as well as the countries already in trouble after three months (Finland, Poland, Turkey, Greece, Austria, the entire Balkan, Estonia and Switzerland).

The countries in which gas supply would be secure even during a nine-month disruption are those who still have their own gas reserves, such as Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, Romania and the UK.

Countries importing from their neighbours or with LNG terminals would also be safe: Belgium, Bulgaria, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain and Sweden.

The study also looks at the impact of one extremely cold week during a six-month disruption: "Supply shortfalls would occur in almost the entirety of Europe." In that scenario, Ireland, the UK, Belgium, Romania and Bulgaria would also be affected.

But the fragile EU economy is going to hurt badly which isn`t talked about too much in this piece.

I did some searching . . . not that that is saying much . . . but I am not finding too many source for this being a recent event? Was it just cut off today? Or is this talking about the last time it was cut off. Zero Hedge and very few others are the only ones I can see carrying this story?

Where on Earth
Could Putin have come up with this idea?

Buy stopping the In Put of gas to Europe In the bleak an cold mid winter.
Its almost as if he is with holding energy giving warmth when it is most needed.

Denying the West heat its as if he is initialising a Cold War.

Good timing also to cut the gas off as Jan and Feb are the coldest months.

Another move should be some sponsored special forces from Iran blow up at least 1 Saudi oil refinery with capacity of 1M barells per day. That would teach the Saudi poodles a long lasting lesson.

Russia to Shift Ukraine Gas Transit to Turkey as EU Cries Foul

...and Turkey hasn`t got the capacity to provide enough yet.

It probably has to do with this...

John Kerry to visit Bulgaria for talks on Ukraine, prospects for gas cooperation

SOFIA, January 15. /TASS/. US Secretary of State John Kerry will visit Bulgaria on Thursday for talks with Bulgarian leaders on Russia’s refusal to build the South Stream gas pipeline and the situation in eastern Ukraine.

This is Kerry’s first visit to Bulgaria on the post of US secretary of state. He will be accompanied by Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland.

Here it is on RT, not any western media yet.. ?

Gazprom announces final nail in the South Stream coffin

Europe will have to get gas via Turkey or Ukraine, there will be no direct transcontinental pipeline to Europe, Gazprom has confirmed. It is disappointing news for Bulgaria, which was hoping to get gas directly from Russia, and not via Ukraine.

Gazprom CEO Aleksey Miller made it clear that Turkey, and not Bulgaria, will become the main gas valve between Russia and Europe.

“South Stream is dead. For Europe there will be no other gas transit options to risky Ukraine other than the new ‘Turkish Stream’ pipeline,” Miller said Wednesday, as reported by RIA Novosti.

However I don`t read anything about not supplying through the Ukraine at the moment.

So it might be just a move with warning about cutting to the Ukraine very soon...it looks more like Russia is trying to draw The West into needing to do something...it says the Turkey pipeline needs to be build soon on European side too.

US might be willing to put Syria on the agenda pretty soon now, so there can be a pipeline from Qatar to Europe...it sure looks like The West are being lured instead of Russia being lured in to acting (Ukraine).

Op is an @sshole
2nd

Ukraine confirmed that Russia had cut off supply; and six countries reported a complete shut-off of Russian gas. The EU raged that the sudden cut-off to some of its member countries was "completely unacceptable," but Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller later added that Russia plans to shift all its natural gas flows crossing Ukraine to a route via Turkey; and Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak stated unequivocally, "the decision has been made."

This made me think the russians has just cut it off in the past few hours. Thankfully that didnt and the op is a complete douchebag for making us beleive it had.

My understanding is that they have re routed it not cut it. The daily mail seems to be very sensationalistic. Gazprom said they would be sending the oil via Ukraine instead of directly. Honestly I don't think this should do anything except force Europe to settle the Ukraine issue as quickly as possible, unfortunately the west has been pushing for war for years and we may just give ourselves what we want.

So Putin's gonna go for a Hail Mary. Russia's economy is already hurting. The only thing they've really got going for them is gas exports. Putin has to hope these countries/the West get desperate before things start to get really desperate in Russia.

Hey, this is being prepared for by Obama! The EPA banned 80% of the wood burning stoves in the U.S..

We'll do another "Berlin Airlift". This time wood burning stoves and save Europe yet again...

It seems they have used an old article of `07 of the DailyMail.

Some gas goes to the North-Stream but not all, so it will depend if the Russians will cut it now to the Ukraine or not, Turkey isn`t able to deliver enough yet and so the figure of 60%. But I haven`t read anywhere its going to be cut now through the Ukraine....it looks more like pressure on Europe to start building the infrastructure soon to be ready to get gas from Turkey or you will be without enough gas soon.

Am I the only one who read that they have plans to re-route the gas lines because of a legitimate reason. Being people were stealing the gas going through a hell hole right now?

It's alarming news, but it's very 'Russian' type of move you'd expect. Honestly, not too worried.

Ukraine simply got reverse gas from other Eastern European countries, but Russia gets paid for it`s delivery. So there`s more to the actions of the Russians as to simply punishing the Ukraine. It`s another chess move because it sidelines the US its power over the transit country...and it now pressures Europe to act quickly or you will be without gas.

This too....

Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline

I bet the Russians don`t want to be suckered into building a large part of the pipeline to Turkey and to have wasted a lot of money to being blocked after the build. It seems they force Europe to be committed to start building their part of the pipeline too.
