EARTHQUAKE TRACK: OREGON

Here's the latest on Oregon, which seems to be continuing the N-S track of quakes in the western half of the state. With addition now of quakes in the same spot in the extreme NW corner of Nevada, and a few quakes in Wash. State near the Oregon border.

earthquake.usgs.gov...
SEISMIC HAZARDS MAP
The west coast is very active, which Oregon's recent N-S line of small quakes fall within.

earthquaketrack.com...
EARTHQUAKE TRACK: CALIFORNIA
Very active around the San Andreas fault, that runs N-S and exits into the Pacific at San Francisco. But the parallel fault off the coast is visible too. And the quakes in N. California seem all over the map, and somewhat line up with the N-S line of quakes in Oregon.

#1 is a Mega-Thrust Quake, California to Canada.

Wyoming is quiet. But Utah is experiencing the same thing: N-S quakes in a line - only this is getting no press.

earthquaketrack.com...
EARTHQUAKE TRACK: UTAH

And Utah is NOT in a Seismic Hazard Zone as active as California and Oregon.

I'm wondering if steam caves and hotsprings may be a link between all the noise under central Oregon, and the rumblings in Wyoming's Yellowstone Park, which are on a straight west-east line. Whether this is all contributing to a Super-Volcano in Yellowstone, sooner than later, is anyone's guess. But I think it's a speculation worth exploring.

Another discussion just started on ATS:

www.abovetopsecret.com...
WORLD'S KILLER EXPLODING LAKES
They're called "Limnic Eruptions," where lakes over volcanos collect Carbon Dioxide on the bottom. These West African lakes stay warm year around, so the collecting CO2 builds up until it explodes. In parts of the world that have cold/cooler temperatures (like in the U.S.) the water "cycles" and the CO2 is not supposed to build up until it explodes.

But maybe this could be happening in Oregon, in underground volcanic tubes or steam caves that are hot year around? Or think of the blast-out-explosions in Siberia scientists are exploring. Could there be other factors underground even with cold surface temperatures, from chemicals to weapons' testing to tunneling, that could cause CO2 explosions?

Which makes me wonder: Is "global warming" coming from below more than above???

Northern California had a good sized quake yesterday. And the point-on-point quakes continue in the NW corner of Nevada.

So now Altamont (south-central Oregon, SE of Klamath Falls but still in Klamath County) is experiencing quakes as well:

earthquake.usgs.gov...
USGS: EARTHQUAKE MAP
Notice how the USGS uses the ridiculous epicenter language of "67 km ESE of Lakeview, Oregon," instead of just Altamont, Oregon.

Three quakes today, three quakes in the past 7 days.

This area also had a serious quake in 1993:

And this area too has Geothermal:

the entire west coast was active with volcanic activity long ago and could act up again
not saying it would start in or near Yellowstone Park

Explosions and booms in Bend, you say?

They're probably just trying to straighten it out.

The Answer? Several years ago a California-based company of geniuses made a proposal to tap into the flanks of an ancient volcano to the south-east of Bend, Oregon. This old volcano is now a caldera (Newberry) with two lakes in the middle - East Lake and Paulina Lake. The purpose of tapping into this volcano is to access geo-thermal energy. What could possibly go wrong?

Thanks for posting. I wasn't aware of this!

(2012) GEOTHERMAL COMPANY DRILLS INTO OREGON'S LARGEST VOLCANO

I love the part about "creating a large network of cracks at multiple depths," which could "create mini-quakes that could spike at 4."

But some of the low-level quake swarms in that quarter of the country, (Oregon to Utah to Northern California) seem to progress along NorthSouth or EastWest trajectories, before abruptly stopping. So I'm thinking more is going on in the hot-springs and lava-tubes underground in that area than just 'quakes from the Newberry Caldera.

I'm not a geologist, but I understand the rich revelations that can come from drilling or coring out samples of earth or ice. But I'm not sure it's the right research approach for all areas.

The earthquakes and/or explosions around Bend, Oregon have quieted down considerably. They have had no quakes in February, and only 3 quakes last month.

Now there comes news that the governor of Oregon is up to his chin in sequential scandals. Not to imply he was involved in any "secret projects" under Bend, but he may have been too distracted to respond appropriately to any irregularities or weapons' testing in Oregon's interconnected steam caves/hot-springs:

Wonder if this is related......if not.....odd indeed.
