When I was a young lad, I was a gamer, and I have always been... and likely always will be

I had every console system known back then, all the way up to the emergence of Nintendo 64 after which I switched to PC, and the console games slowly became a thing of the past... I still play the occasional console game, but I am a PC gamer

Back then there was one game that held my interest more then any other...

Although it was originally a computer game, I didn't actually play it until it hit the super Nintendo... and I was hooked immediately!

Unfortunately the game was lost in time as I jumped from one system to the next... but I always remembered it...

In the past I've tried to find it again... at least a downloadable version of it, but for some reason it never worked... I always went back to the hunt, trying to find a version of the old game with no success...

Then one day I found a group that decided to remake the game!

I waited for quite a while as the development of this game progressed... and ended up forgetting about it...

then a few weeks ago I remembered my old favorite game again, and decided to check the progress of the new game...

Well the time has come.... it has arrived!!

I've only been playing it a short while, but the game is looking good so far... and its quite a lot of fun!

And its free.... and Multiplayer...

So for all those who loved Populous way back in the day... Perhaps this is our chance to play the classic game... Reborn!!

Populous and populous 2 were great games back in the day. I'll be checking this badboy out. Cheers!

I am a big fan of "god" games.

Have you ever played "Black and White" 1 and 2?

Played both actually... They were pretty good too

Populous was the original "god game"

I used to spend hours playing it... and im just getting into this one...

Apparently the multiplayer game lets you connect with many other players... I haven't tried it yet though

I never played the original "Populous" when it first came out but did check it out years later. I was pretty addicted to any type of god games for awhile, used to love "SimCity 2000" and all that jazz. Even the "Sims" when it came out.

My laptop has trouble with really massive games.

Tried playing "Titanfall" recently and the screen looked like my computer was being attacked by "Minecraft".

I wonder if this would work on mine. I might scope it out and wait for sale.

I played this earlier last year on an emulator.
It looked interesting but I didn't play it. I played final fantasy three instead. (Completed it too

But this game here:

Is it the new one youre talking about or an earlier sequel?

The reason I ask is because about 10 years ago i remember playing a PC game just like that. You were a god and controlled a population. And it had a name like populatipn too. In fact thats what came to mind even before i saw the pictures here. And they look pretty similar....

You're probably thinking of Black & white... we were discussing that briefly earlier...

Those pics are from the new populous...

By the way everyone... im on the 4th level...

its getting pretty damn hard

Is this the Steam version? I think I looked at it for a bit.

I had a version of Populous on my old Playstation, and I briefly mucked around with Black and White until I failed to master the clunky god pet throwing motion with the mouse on my PC.

I loved playing populous on the Super Nintendo.

I tried the newer ones, but just never got into them after the first one.
Cool that it has been redone!

Here, for the Simcity fans,
(been one since the original although I have avoided the newest)
free and legal Simcity 2000,
and it runs just fine on Windows 7.

SimCity 2000 Special Edition

(It won't stay free for long, get it while you can.)

I got excited then realized I had already downloaded it on Origin lol

They constantly give away some real classics on there.

Yeah it is an Origin release.

But still free.

An Origin Account is required I think, but that is free to.
I hear ya though.
I'm not crazy abut Origin or Steam, however, freebies to a gamer are worth it

I saw the title and my heart jumped , I thought maybe Sid and Firaxis were doing a remake .... But

Populous was a special game in it's day and lives in the fond memory section of my brain , along with Magic Carpet.
Thanks for the link , I'll take a stroll down memory lane as soon as I get of the Sevastopol.
