This is new footage released by Reuters. Video shows terrorists getting into car, trying to escape, and then a shootout with French police.

Lots of interesting things in this video.

Like why didn't they shoot from behind the car doors? Who were they motioning to?

Why were they so slow in getting into the car? How was the person doing the video able to record so quickly? And be at just the right spot?

That was some well framed amateur footage.
I guess they do it different in France. In the US those guys would have had heavy lead coming their direction.

Well you can not blame Islam without having them calmly stand in the road shouting out this is for the prophet!

"a triumphet cry" says the narrator

They seemed to be moving quite slow in general, perhaps as they turned the corner they were placing their Id on the seat!

also upon comparing videos why is the one that is narrated, edited to not show them reloading?

If anyone was to shot back and kill them, their wish would have come true, to become martyrs, they had no fear.

Why were they so slow in getting into the car?

Same as above, they had no fear and no hurry, they wanted to be seen and heard.

Sometimes # happens right in front of you, we don't know how long they had been there before the person started recording.

Why did the police just sit at the end of the road instead of following at a reasonable distance? The cop car didn't appear to be disabled by gunfire. Obviously they didn't want to take them on 2 vs 2 but they at least could have kept tabs...

Additionally, I'm curious why the terrorists just rolled by the officers without engaging again.

Very odd feel to the entire thing. The killers standing outside the car for 15 seconds? For what?

You would think that the first thing on their mind would be getting into the car as fast as possible and closing the doors, not leisurely standing around when they know the police are coming.

In a city with 10000000 people..... How exactly would it be possible NOT to be in the right spot??

Probably to ambush responding police units , standard police units in Europe are no match for guys with Ak's , seems like after firing upon the police they created a window to ditch the getaway vehicle before the proper police responce was directed to the location.

In the video i linked you can see the cop car driving backwards and hitting a car wich stands stationary on the road , then the attackers get in and the passenger leans out with his AK and fires multiple shots until the car goes out of the image to the left at the end of the video.

Good point.

Then we'll probably be seeing hundreds of videos in the coming weeks.

They are martyrs in their own mind. Why in the world would they be in a rush? What else is there to be scared of if you aren't scared of dying?

Ah thanks, I couldn't see/hear the firing at the end of the road in the other video. They may have blown a tire or injured someone in the car as they drove by. Makes perfect sense now.

In fact at 1:26 in the sky video it looks like theres a spray of possible transmission fluid, and the police vehicle is wobbly as though it make be on 3 tires.

I'm intrigued about the people who took the video. They were so loud!! Whose to say the Jihadi won't just aim for your window or balcony next time. I'd be hiding on the floor and just hoping my camera was pointed in the right direction. Brave or dumb or just obsessed with spectating even at dire risk to themselves. Not my cuppa.

Guess that they just wanted to get away instead of risking getting into trouble with arriving enforcements

Then why would they run in the first place? Why not stand there outside Charlie and go out in a blaze of glory taking as many cops with them as they could?

Perhaps because they had plans to do more , they had explosives so perhaps they had a bombing planed but didn't get a chance to use them.

I do not think that Martyrs would have the need to wear masks!

Thats a good point, but if they can live to terrorize another day, the mask would be helpful to not get recognized.

To tell everybody about how they had avenged the prophet. Which I'm fairly certain they did over and over again.

You would think that the first thing on their mind would be getting into the car as fast as possible and closing the doors, not leisurely standing around when they know the police are coming.

You mean the police who were unarmed? Why would they care that unarmed police were coming? When local forces are unarmed, it typically takes time for an armed response to get to a situation. Odds would dictate they had a good bit of time to do as they pleased.

As far as them not shooting from behind their doors, same as above. And the video shows at least one of them moving towards the corner of the building they were near. If one is inclined to seek cover, a building is a much better option than a thin car door. Video also shows the passenger leaned out the window. I don't imagine he was trying to catch bugs or see if his ears were flapping, so it's probably safe to say he was still engaging the police.

If one is on a one-way mission, one still would prefer to complete ALL of one's mission. But one probably isn't going to be inclined to pass up opportunities to grandstand and cause more destruction along the way, either.

As trite as it sounds, I think it's pretty well established at this point in history that throwing on a mask and carrying a gun tends to make one scarier looking. Same reason military personnel wear masks while at the same time they're wearing uniforms that have their nametapes on them. There's an entire psychology behind wearing a mask, both for the person wearing it and people seeing it.

Wonder who smashed in or shot out the back window of their car.
