That is why I quote Reiche's work in the very beginning. Unlike others including me, she did stay there for decades and came to a theory that the shapes are constellations and trust me the result is not and can not be that weak. The reason her theory failed is because she did not realized that not all shapes were used to describe constellations and the Nazca lines were not used to describe the movement of stars. Once she tried to prove these two results, her theory turns to be wrong.

Because when those extraterrestrials visited the earth, our civilization was so poor and primitive so that they just could not hand over a CD to tell the natives where they were from. The only thing they could do was to leave something for the future humans who could understand their information and therefore they must build something 1. more permanent and 2. make sure we would understand it when the right time coming, e.g. when we could fly.

I fail to see where the Nazca lines have anything at all to do with extraterrestrials.

The lines are actually shallow trenches that expose lighter soil underneath. Certainly not a trivial job with all of those glyphs, and the staightness of many of the lines between them.

Most of the lines are formed by a shallow trench with a depth of between four inches (10cm) and six inches (15cm). They were made by removing the reddish-brown iron oxide-coated pebbles that cover the surface of the Nazca desert and exposing the light-coloured earth beneath

Well the modern day shaman say it way a test for the newly initiated. They were supposed to meditate and leave their bodies. If they could, they were then to fly above the lines and describe what they saw. Then they would be accepted as a new shaman.

Considering what we know about out of body experiences now days and also knowing Shamans in South America were chasing that experience, then I would have to agree this is the most plausible practical reason for their existence.

And...we understand it now? wow... I missed that train.

I would think the beginning of communication (such as you describe) would be more mathematic in nature...leading us to reading a language and then they could truly communicate with us. They could have lazered all this in stones moved to the center of North America (pretty stable, geologically speaking) or to some place in Siberia or China where stability is exceptional.

I am not so sure that dragging their feet through dirt to expose a lighter under soil would be type of permanence they would be seeking.

The theories about the constellations seems very plausible but seeing as how the Nazca figures themselves are of a primitive sort that can be likened to ice age cave paintings I don't really think there was much conversating with the aliens and these primitive people.

These maps are very interesting. I didn't know that the ocean had since risen and covered part of these Nazca configurations. I say these things were done out of a need to create with some rudimentary knowledge of the heavens thrown in for good measure. As for a definitive and revelating secret hidden within them I really am not going to give these primitive people that much credit.

It could also be, as a cultural thing, that if this land area was where they lived the shapes could represent each section or family within the tribes "neighborhood" to some extent. A way of dividing the area up. That's only a guess though.

Who knows? I would say that if the alien theories are correct then what we've got are super-intelligent beings ruling over an extremely basic and primitive group of people, probably giving them the ideas and|or directing them to build these things. To me though, it looks like primitive man reaching to the heavens.

If this was created to let us find out about them deep into the future. Using the moon for this would be more long lasting and absolute proof of their existence. No way to mess with the lines. If these types of lines were placed on the moon could we spot them from earth? Mindshaker. Imagine finding the same lines on the moon. How would that shake up the world?

If extraterrestrials visited a planet, could it be much easier for them to leave some sort of marks more permanently with their amazing advanced technology? Maybe it is. But the Nazca lines are apparently a kind of communication while not just a simple mark claiming that I have been to somewhere just Iike the flag we left on the moon. Suppose when Apollo 11 arrived at the moon and found a primitive tribe near the landing area, what would the astronauts do to those tribe men? To tell them to look up the sky and point out the planet where we are from or even give them a map? It sounds reasonable. My key point is the Nazca lines may be designed by extraterrestrials. Were the Nazca lines in fact created under direct supervision of extraterrestrials? Considering the huge size of the lines, I guess there is such possibility and I can not rule it out. Neither can you or we have solved the myth already.

I agree with you, it represents somekind of "3D space highways map".

The only fact is: It was made to be seen from up above. No one can deny that. Either OBE or spacecrafts, it doesn't matter.

When you connect the dots and start to find similarities of this theory with other theories. One in particular that I like is the Terra Papers theory. It was presented as a course conclusion work on the college by an half Hopi half Apache Indian called Robert Morningsky. On the Terra Papers he tells that many races came here and that is very interesting.

Also, Nordic mythology matches in some aspects with this too. Also, in some aspects, does Scientology, and every other ancient theory.

I think if we can tag the common points on every single ancient theory on earth, the truth can be achieved. For example, all theories tells us the world has been destroyed before and "recreated" or "reborn". Some theories tells us that this happened 4 times and some tells us different numbers. Even modern science tells us about an "Ice age". IMHO, that would explain why the pyramids and other places on Egypt have to be unearthed to be discovered. IMHO, there are whole cities buried there. Cities that people had to abandon to survive and gather together on natural bunkers or something like that.

I think even movies tells us some bits of truth but in small doses masked as fiction, like HItchhicker's Guide to The Galaxy that tells that there are a "space highway" and we are right in the middle. That's would explain why we have so many theories, visiting alien races, etc.

If it is A MAP, why then it doesn't it include what it is supposed to map out: STARS ?

You don't make a map but then make everything abstract and leave out the most important thing, the actual stars.
Even if we assume that condor, birds, monkey etc. are constellations I would expect them to depict the actual stars with the images, NOT just a monkey or a bird. Such a "map" would be inaccurate and doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

My take on the nazca lines, actually the op is in some way right, but ask yourself do really Ets travel tru the stars by our conventional methods even if its a UFO?????? They do travel on ufos and big flying cities but they use them locally not for far distances let say from one end of the galaxy to another one. Like i said in some other post, Ets are masters of genetics and they can created programed life for enjoyment or purpose or for specific task. But souls are from the spiritual realm, that they cant do.

This is when science meet spirituality, you may call me creazy, but i think this are roads from the souls, to come here to earth. This are roads souls take to get here, and be born, for many and infinity reasons. This run ways are from were some souls are born or forge, and yes there are outpost all arround this interstellar roads.

So you can see they come here from many places, in egypt they believe it came from orion and leo (the sphinx) , in nazca from the souther constellations, and in many cultures from other places, this explains one thing, earthlings are not so earthlings after all and it explains the galaxy and the rest of the universe is full of life.

But that is the core issue. Who decides what shapes are constellations and what not? With that approach you could make them match anything. And then it essentially becomes tea leaves reading.
