Sky are reporting exactly what I said yesterday.....about the prospect of the special forces being drawn out of the area.

Obviously the guys who are holed up outside Paris are a priority, and I don't believe Paris is without protection, but there are a hell of a lot of special forces a long way away right now.

Just out of interest, what are the rifles that the French police are carrying in Paris? Look like older ones with wooden stocks?

Oh, Trocadero turns out to be a false alarm thankfully.

depends on the force. National Police carry a Sig rifle I think, the Gendarmerie carry HK and FAMAS rifles. There's likely multiple agencies in action, which opens up the variety of weapons being carried greatly, as I don't think there's a ton of standardization across agencies.

These definitely look older ones, I wonder if it's because of the sheer amount of firearms being broken out right now?

We had our standard SA80's and 9mm Brownings when I was in, and there also HK's in the armoury, but there were also shedloads of the old Stirling SMG's siting there in case they were needed.

Agreed.

@ CX - I think you're probably right. I would imagine it's all hands on deck right now, and dang near any weapon they can get out in play is being used.

Lebanese Hezbollah group leader has made a statement condemning the attack.

Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of the Lebanese Hezbollah group, has made a statement via video link, saying that Islamic extremists have insulted Islam and the Prophet Muhammad more than those who have published satirical cartoons mocking the religion.
He did not make a specific reference to the Charlie Hebdo attack in Paris but referred to Islamic State militants in Syria and Iraq, saying they had done more harm to Islam than anyone else in history.

It looks like the authorities have decided to assault the two siege locations together at the same time , a decisive and hopefully successful move.

The siege is over , AFP reporting hostages freed no reports yet of injuries.

Respect to the French security forces.

So does this exonerate the young teen who was first a suspect & handed himself in?

If the 3rd shooter is active, then it must.

From the BBC news

Gunshots and explosions have been heard at the site where suspects of the Charlie Hebdo shootings are holding at least one hostage north of Paris. The two suspects, brothers Cherif and Said Kouachi, have barricaded themselves in a printworks warehouse in Dammartin-en-Goele. A gunman has also seized hostages at a kosher supermarket in eastern Paris. Explosions and gunfire could also be heard at that site, at Porte de Vincennes.

The hostage that was with the brothers is safe, both Kourachi brothers killed in the operation
