Something many people might not be familiar with are some kind of "zones" in France that apparently segregate areas.

Don't know much about this and hoping somebody can explain it and note whether or not this is a sensationalized political thing or if it's real.

Maybe find out the reasons behind these "zones".

There is a website that evidently identifies these "zones".

Atlas des Zones urbaines sensibles (Zus)

What's Going On Here ?

A backdrop to the massacre in Paris on Wednesday by self-professed al Qaeda terrorists is that city officials have increasingly ceded control of heavily Muslim neighborhoods to Islamists, block by block.

France has Europe’s largest population of Muslims, some of whom talk openly of ruling the country one day and casting aside Western legal systems for harsh, Islam-based Shariah law.

“The situation is out of control, and it is not reversible,” said Soeren Kern, an analyst at the Gatestone Institute and author of annual reports on the “Islamization of France.”

Kind of reminds me of around here, Los Angekes, prior to the Fair Housing Act.

There are Christians in America trying to set up Christian exclusive neighborhoods. They are limited on how far they can go by law.

America still has communities of specific groups.

But in France, the government seems to sponsoring this type of thinking.

It's almost like it's "Legal" in France.

Not the same as the U.S. I would say.

Do you think this a dangerous situation in any country?

this is scary! france has been known to be VERY intolerant of various religious groups... and now it's just more targeting of muslims, the more we racially profile these people or lump them all together because of their faith, how will they ever have trust in government? or people for that reason, especially those not in the islam faith, and i can't say i blame them, there is so much muslim shaming around the world every day when islam is a really beautiful religion, and i don't even really believe in organized religion! but it's way better than the organized hate of the french government and a lot of their citizens

So you see this as a way to "segregate" by law?

But why is the French Government "allowing" this much immigration in the first place?

Sounds like something might be counter productive.

This is very confusing.

Not the same anymore in U.S. because of laws.

But, groups still congregate by ethnicity etc.

Oh yeah, I am totally against this. Just to be clear.

I can't find it on the Internet. But, I know recently a group of Christians got legal right for a housing community. But, they were limited on how many houses.

Yes that is dangerous. Any kind of segregation of any part of society fails then the first step of integration. Its no wonder they are just moving more and more in and saying they will take over France.

The way it sounds like the french did it, actually encourages a take over verses integrating as productive members of a new society.

If you want new and productive members of society, you must integrate people into that society.. not keep them out of it.

These no go areas must be resumed by the sovereign states and the rule of law should be re-established if that means military and tanks so be it,this stinking filth of a cult should be considered like scientology and several other cults which countries have banned, their assets seized and infrastructure broken up...that is the solution but no one has the balls to do it.

Uh huh well the Christians quit murdering people years ago. When Muslim fanatics put an end to it I won't have a problem with them being allowed to rule their own little sections.

There's a difference between people who read a book and people who misconstrue it and murder others.

Extremists come in all forms and beliefs.

There are Christian extremists. Like those who murder abortion doctors.

There are entire towns in the UK which are almost completely Muslim. From what i understand if you're white or suspected of being non muslim then you will be violently evicted from those towns. The police there will do NOTHING against these muslims so they get to do whatever they wish and to WHOMEVER they wish. They have been known to rob/beat people in large gangs in broad daylight and throw their victims into the local rivers. It's only a matter of time before they spread much further afield and begin removing people from their own homes in other towns. The rest will be so fearful that they will start moving elsewhere and the muslims can just make themselves right at home in these other towns.
Now, as i said, the police do nothing, the government do nothing, which is suspicious in itself, but just as bad the citizens themselves do nothing. Their hateful violent ways seem to be working in the UK but i'm not sure that they will have such a free reign in France. Only time will tell.

You know from previous experiences I am and a liberal one at that. I know you have gripes with the church since you grew up during the 60s and somehow believe enlightenment is the condemnation of those who's beliefs are incompatible with yours.

So do you teach your daughter to be open minded and follow whatever religious/non-religious path she'd like or do you just tell her that organized religion is the product of hateful controllers?

Why does anyone think this is exclusive to the UK or anywhere else?

There are many places in the U.S. you don't go if you don't belong.

There are many areas in the US where people of same ethnicity or belief congregate.

Been going on for years - France has had race and religious rioting going in for a long time.
Its a powder keg. There have been a few good French movies about the subject (La Haine being one)
There is essentially a ring of immigrants around Paris

No. One of my daughters is Christian. Her son went to a Christian school. I helped pay for it.

I do tell them ---- "Do not give your power away".
