ADDITIONAL INFO: Reports from the scene indicate the one guy came out firing at police and virtually all 100 of the cops present, returned fire until their clips were empty.

According to one eye witness, one arm was ripped off and the perps body started falling apart from so many bullet holes! ! ! ! ! !

Initial estimate is that over ONE-THOUSAND BULLETS were fired by cops at this one guy

Lol.

Call me naïve, but how does that make the chain of recent events stink?

I kind of agree with Charlie. Why would they go on a mass murder killing spree, escape, and then think gee, I'm on social media, that's it, I better give up. Really?

I think leaving their ID behind was the beginning of the stink...

Stosh has kindly explained why handing himself in because of Social Media stinks.

He was apparently in a classroom at the time of the killings.

The forensic guys are fine tooth combing his apartment for DNA stuff found in the car and ID card etc.

If the report is true, most likely the youngest got scared when his name appeared. Realizing the authorities know who he is, he turned himself in to avoid being killed. Easy to be brave when you think no one knows who you are. For this kid, everything got real when he was identified.

Again, if the report is true.

They should have reloaded and shot him again, just to be certain.

Or maybe it wasn't the guy who handed himself him. Maybe he was framed?

Yeah, sure is convenient that one of them left their ID in the getaway car - though it sounds more like someone was setting up a patsy.

An examination of his computer and cell etc will reveal the degree if any of his involvement. Plus they need to check out his alibi and stuff like contacts. Maybe it was his car that the brothers used. Who knows? All kinds of questions come to mind as this is in the initial stage of investigation.

The latest from the Telegraph.

www.telegraph.co.uk...

08.11 We're getting the first pictures from the scene of the new Paris shooting.
Images show emergency service workers and firefighters taking an injured person away on a stretcher near the site of the shootout in Montrouge.

08.04 Le Monde reports that the Paris prosecutor's office has said no link has been confirmed "at this time" between the latest shooting and the attack against Charlie Hebdo.

07.58 One suspect reportedly arrested after shootout in Malakoff, southern Paris.

07.57 Said Kouachi, the older brother of the two suspects still missing, lived in Reims for the past year, a neighbour confirmed to RTL.

07.46 Breaking: automatic gunfire has been reported at Montrouge near Paris, with one of two municipal policemen seriously injured, and gunmen escaping in metro, say French reports.

07.44 The seven arrests made this morning are reportedly friends and associates of the three suspects.

07.30 The interior ministry has just confirmed that seven people have been arrested in connection with the investigation.
It's not clear who they are, but we still think that the brothers Said and Cherif Kouachi are on the run.

07.27 David Chazan in Charleville-Mezieres says Hamyd Mourad, the youngest suspect who handed himself in and according to some reports was in school during attack, is in custody and has not been charged.
Hamyd Mourad is suspected of having been the getaway driver.

07.03 Manuel Valls, the French prime minister, has been speaking on French television, and announced that "several" arrests have been made.

06.45 These image of the two suspects still on the run - Said, left, and Cherif Kouachi - have been released by the French police:
AFP

06.00 Harriet Alexander, one of the Telegraph team in Paris reports:
Quote France is waking up to the news that one of the three men suspected of being involved in the attack has handed himself in, while the other two remain on the run.
"Hamyd Mourad, 18, was thought to be the getaway driver but at around 11pm last night he went to police in Charleville-Mezieres, northeast of Paris, to say that he was not connected to the attack. BFMTV spoke to someone who claimed that he was at school with Mourad at the time of the attack.
"Said Kourachi, 34, and his 32-year-old brother Cherif - who is well known to police - remain on the run, and television channels this morning are warning people not to approach them and giving out a phone number to contact if they are seen by the public.

The story/article in the OP cannot be confirmed.

Thread closed until further notice.

Edit: Additional information:

PASADENA, Calif. — In another instance of a news organization jumping ahead of a fast-moving story, NBC News erroneously reported the capture of two suspects and the killing of another in the attack on a French newspaper office and has been forced to issue a correction.

A night after NBC's flagship "Nightly News" made the error, anchor Brian Williams on Thursday explained that the network relied on two senior U.S. intelligence officials for the information. There had been no confirmation from French officials on the story, which was reported by Pete Williams and delivered on the air by Bill Neely.

"While these sources had been reliable in our previous reporting, the intel they passed along to us last night turned out not to be correct," Brian Williams said on the air.
