MoAnsar: To be clear, I have always stated that I do not like the #CharlieHebdo cartoons but they are entitled and have a right to print them.... 1/2

@MoAnsar: #CharlieHebdo have a right to freedom of speech subject to the law of the land. As do we all. There is no justification for violence. 2/2

@MoAnsar: No one was 'avenged' today. Those killings are offensive to Islam, the Prophet's memory (pbuh) and good people everywhere. #CharlieHebdo

@MoAnsar: The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) upheld the freedom of speech - even of his detractors. Subject to our laws, we must do the same. #CharlieHebdo

@haaretzcom: Palestinian President Abbas condemns #CharlieHebdo attack as "heinous crime in contradiction of religion & morality"

@iyad_elbaghdadi: As a Muslim, killing innocent people in the name of Islam is much, much more offensive to me than any cartoon can ever be. #CharlieHebdo

I just selected 3 well known people!

There are plenty of everyday people with no soapbox besides their Twitter feed who have also condemned this attack.

There are thousands more across Social media which I really don't have the time to share here.

Not In Our Name!

What happened in Paris...
It's a disgusting & deplorable action undertaken by the lowest of the low!
That should go without saying...
But alas it doesn't.

So I am saying, it was a disgraceful attack...
Not just an attack on Islam itself...
But an attack on free speech... Which no one should stand for!

There is also talk of a man named Ahmed Merabet, a policeman allegedly killed in the Attack who was also a Muslim.
I just thought I'd add that for some perspective, whether you feel it's relevant or not, is up to you.

I'll leave you with this...

Have fun with your pictures of Muhammad

It wasn't an act committed by Muslims. They were Muslim extremists. Who, if reports are to be believed, killed a Muslim in their quest for "vengeance."

Good post Charlie. S/f

I've said it before & I'll say it again Shamrock pal...

They probably were Muslims...

But whether they represent Islam is a different question all together really, once extremism comes into play.

I understand where you're coming from, if I had said they're not Muslims I'd be lambasted for denying a problem within the Muslim community...

If I say they do not represent Islam, there is no rebuttal from others for that.

I agree with you. I'm an infidel who has dated Muslim girls. They weren't running around trying to shoot people, blow anybody up, or cut off anybody's head.

Some of us know the difference between a religious person and a religious extremist

Yet you are the first to call the dead "morons".

I ask you again...

What will you call me when they kill me for being an apostate Charlie? Will I be an inept moron too because I changed my religion from Islam?

Quote from the OP here.

"Here's a whacky idea...

Don't go out of your way to intentionally offend a specific group of people, & you won't pay the consequences.

Morons."

Sorry dude sounds like to me you blame the cartoonists not the killers.

Look, if you wish to discuss with me what was said, & taken completely out of context, in the other thread...

Then ask me in the other thread please.

Do not derail this thread because you now feel you need to take up a vendetta against me for comments in a completely different thread with completely different subject matter.

You have to choose. Stand with those whose blood was spilled, or stand with the terrorists. There is no middle ground.. no riding some invisible line.

If you are going to take a stand, take a real one.

Did you really call the victims morons and then have the gall to post a thread such as this?

Really?

I'd say this makes it pretty clear where I stand!

Didn't call the victims morons.

I called the cartoonist himself & terrorists morons!

Thanks for perpetuating the derailment.

Are you going to add anything to the subject of Muslims condemning the Paris Massacre or not?

Freedom of speech doesn't come without consequence...

Deny the holocaust in an article for a satire magazine...
See how far that gets you.

These fools brought it on themselves.

I'm sorry, but you are full of #.

Yes it is good but your words in the other thread say otherwise to me anyhow.
Also in this thread....

You have said the cartoonist is a moron for doing it and I disagree we have the right to mock any religion.
Also you did not call the terrorists morons in that post.
Anyhow people read the thread and make your own conclusions eh?.

I'm pretty sick at ATS today.

Something tragic and horrible in France, and it's used as an excuse for an official sanctioned hate fest and gleefully joined by many who had been waiting with baited breath.

I know it's stupid of me, but i hoped for better here.

So anyway... guess it's official now, all muslims are bad and Islam is evil.

Big round of applause to the masses of ATS, bravo, innit?

ETA: the more i read here today, the more i feel like saying "#### the lot of ya"

The fools being the cartoonist & editor...

A word of advice Charlie, if you are going to say such potentially offensive things you might want to quantify your exact meaning and be very SPECIFIC about it. Otherwise you run the risk of looking like a cold hearted idiot.

You had several chances in that other thread to specify exactly what you meant and you seemingly chose not to.

Morons.

That is not standing up against terrorism, nor is it a scathing condemnation of anyone but the victims.
