Another case of, "don't try robbing someone, and you won't get shot dead". And, this one, over a stupid pair of @#$@# sneakers of all things. I think folks have their priorities out-of-wack if they are willing to die over a pair of sneakers. I say bravo to this citizen that protected himself and those around him in a proper use of his LEGALLY concealed weapon. I wonder if the dead suspect had a legally obtained gun? My guess is, as has been often stated, criminals will not follow the law...only law abiding citizens do.

Miami Township police said a man with a concealed weapon permit fired his gun after he and another man were accosted Saturday morning by three teens on a sidewalk outside the Dayton Mall. Police said one teen had showed a gun.

Teen shot at mall had troubled past, but ‘was making strides’

Jawaad moved to the Middletown City Schools District from Columbus earlier this school year, and was a sophomore on the football team, school officials said. Earlier this year, he was charged with petty theft for allegedly stealing Pop Tarts, two plates of fried chicken, a Snickers bar and a plate of sushi from Kroger, 3420 Towne Blvd., according to Middletown police reports obtained by this newspaper. Two other juveniles and MHS football players were charged with petty theft, according to police reports.

“This was a random act of ‘I want something that person has and I’m going to take it from them by any means,’” said Miami Township, Ohio police Sgt. Jay Phares. Athletic shoes such as Air Jordan’s — NBA legend Michael Jordan’s sneaker line — are a popular target among thieves, especially during the Christmas season.

When faced with a gun wielding criminal (and that is what this "teen" was), that is bold enough to brandish a gun at you, it is the right of a citizen to do exactly as this man has done. I know some folks here will counter with something to the effect of, "well, he killed a kid over a pair of sneakers". To which I say, had that "kid" not tried to rob him (regardless of the item), and brandished a (very likely illegal) hand gun, then he would still be alive.

To quote Jim Carey's character in the film, Liar, Liar, "STOP BREAKING THE LAW ASSHOLE".

And if the cops showed up and had to shoot this gun wielding black thug, the Al Sharpton machine would be starting riots.

If people didn't weed themselves out once in a while, there'd really be a huge over population problem.

I am sorry you see it that way. I see it as another piece of criminal trash that will never rob or threaten anyone again. And, yes, I celebrate that FACT. Life can be tough, but we ALL live (or die) based upon our own decisions.

I know this was a sarcastic post (meant to be funny), but, if we ignore these type of stories, and only broadcast and "discuss" cases of bad cops doing bad things, then we do an injustice to all those that do follow the law, and only further glorify the thug mentality.

So where is the handgun? The article says nothing about it being recovered so did the guy shoot the kid that wasn't armed? Common sense says shoot person with the gun do that and the others won't bother you because they know you mean business.

No, we are celebrating this person no longer being able to prey on another human being.

It wasn't sarcasm, nature selectes the most fit and most intelligent. This kid who wanted to rob someone for shoes was a fool.

That's just it he wasn't following the law. The mall has strict rules against guns on their property so the guy could be charged with a misdemeanor.

No, a mall cannot overrule federal laws or the United States Constitution. There are clearly listed areas that you cannot conceal carry....shopping malls are not on that list. This is a common misconception.

Man the comments on some of those sites

This kid brought this on him self I get that but does that mean all apathy is out the window?

Sad day the kid did this and died. Hope the two that ran away and got caught sell out the people that put them up to it.

Hell of a lot better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6.

I agree that it isn't right to celebrate the death of another human being, however, I won't mourn someone that dies from their own misdeeds. If this happened more often then crime statistics would be practically nil.
