Mods If there is already a thread like this, delete, but please let me know where to find help on this. Thanx. Syx.

Hi All. I am trying to find NotePad in Windows 8. I don't want or need a fancy ass Word Pad or anything like that. Just a simple NotePad would be good enough. Any Help will be greatly appreciated!! Thanx in advance.

From the Start page
Click the arrow in the circle at the bottom to scroll down to the app page and then use the search bar to find it.

The search bar is in the top right of the App page.

I just found it listed on the App page under Windows Accessories.

Wow people use a conspiracy site as a how to instead of a quick 10 second Google search?

Can you blame them? Google's part of The Conspiracy.

I would like to recommend a program called classic shell. It makes windows 8 look more like windows 7. I'm not really fond of the windows 8 start screen. For me it's a lot easier to find my stuff that way.

I'll do you one better and tell you how to find it with your eyes closed.

- Close your eyes.
- Hit the "windows" key.
- Type "not" and hit enter.
- Open your eyes.

TADA!

Everything is part of The Conspiracy. Alternative OSs, the internet, even people waking up to The Conspiracy.

You can also press Start+W to bring up the search bar and search for it there...

You can also access the search bar via pressing start to open the start screen

Also when opening a file/viewing a folder, there is a search bar on the top right. You can use this to look for any programs within the current directory

Thank You for your extra help here!! I have only been using this OS for only a short time. so I have no idea what I am doing with it. I had been on XP util a little while ago. New puter that until now was being used by My kid for online gaming. My old PC is in the other room with WinXP still on it, and so far, I am ready to stay with it! LOL!!!

Thanx again!!!

When I heard how bad it was, I didn't even attempt to get used to it...

First thing I did after installing it was spend an hour in Google to find the best way to lobotomize it.

StartIsBack, ModernMix, and Decor8 are the digital equivalent of Alka Seltzer, Pepto Bizmol and Losec for the Metro Induced Acid Reflux Syndrome...

Using them will not only bring back the start button, but will also allow one to never have to look at the Metro start screen again.

Tried Start8 at first and switched to StartIsBack when I heard that it is the defacto windows 7 start menu for W8.

I lasted a day - then returned the laptop for refund and bought one second hand. It does take some getting used to and caught on pretty quick, but ultimately decided I wasn't going to be able to live with it long term. I'm all for keeping up with technology but not that one. Lolz

Have you considered putting Linux on your XP machine. The learning curve isn't so bad and far less painful then Win 8 (IMHO)

You know, I'm a bit old school. I used xp for so long, and was able to get with it's program very fast and have loved it for years. I had a system crash and got XP reinstalled onto another old hard drive, and I can't get it the way it once was. Just pisses me off I can't even get spotify to d-load into it any more. Even tryin to get google chrome into it won't work now. Alas.
I figured I'd be ok with Win 8, but Man I tell Ya,I am not liking the aggravation I have suffered so far.
Linux has been becoming a better option the more I cuss at Win 8!!! LOL!!!

Thanx for Your input on this! I appreciate it!!
