I can attest to that.

I have no life and I end up saving around 55% of my paycheck. I only have the basic expenses but since I have no life I rarely have to spend money on other people or frivolous expenses.

TL;DR - Not having a social life can help you meet your financial goals.

Two things... porn is accessible for free online... and when one is single, one usually doesn't "need" it. It's those long relationships where familiarity breeds neutered thoughts that create a necessity for porn... in my own (and everyone else's) experience, anyway.

And having an insular, hermit-esque life IS cheaper, for the most part... way less so during the holiday season anyway.

Being single, with no kids would be cheap living. But where's the joy??? My 4 kids take every penny I've got most of the time, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Who would I cook great meals for? One of my greatest joys is to see the joy in their face when I get them a great gift (Which my kids have gone without plenty).

I also love the parties my friends and I have. Great times, Great memories...

I dunno... big trade off...

married since 97. Me... I save so much money not trying to get a piece of.... pie. That I have more money with 2 kiddos around than I ever would single. The local clinic has lost a dime or 2.

Seriously. I would be in jail, if alive, with out my wife. Maybe I AM Weak.

I live on 20+ acres with a 2000ft brick home... Chickens, hobbies, young. Did it all my self; With my wife's help. We made less than 20K year for first 15 years. less than 50k now. I have plenty of money. just saying.

You can have a life and save money. Define what "Having a life is" please

Porn just leads you to clicking on picks that look like your spouse. What's the point? sad really.

That reminds me... When my daughter was borne I ask the OB. "I work on computers all day long, when I get home I don't want to touch one! How about you?"

Not falling for all the traps set before you that are meant to take your money from you is what I get from this subject.

I suspect that as connected as people are these days that we have some social life not matter how you try to hide from it. I never socialize these days too much, I've burned out on the party scene in my old age, but if it's an important event in a neighbor or a friend's life and they have free food, I'm there. Also, there are plenty of groups that you can be involved with that don't charge a cover.

Now if I can get the old lady on board with a reasonable budget, I can see actually having some money left in my pockets.

There is a big difference between surviving and actually LIVING. Takes money to actually LIVE life, but it also takes others to enjoy those activities with you. I'm all for saving money, but not at the expense of not having a life....
