Well I was very saddened to hear this.
Angalifu died yesterday. This leaves only
5 remaining that officials know about.

That is a very small gene pool to try to
re-establish a species even with Invitro.

I hope Humanity is happy with Itself.
What an utter Shame.

Ruined my holiday cheer a bit.

I heard about that and it's outrageous. I hope someone can save them (though I'm thinking they'll end up extinct).

OT but it reminds me of the Denver Murals, the one with the animals that I believe symbolize animals that are going/will be extinct. S + F

I had not heard about this, but it is indeed very sad.

Sometimes it seems that we destroy everything we touch.

Clone the poor things. If they can do it with sheep they can do it with Rhinos.

Humanity has rather a lot to account for regarding the impact we have on other species. Just goes to show nature is a cruel mistress, i mean she would have to be to have spawned Humanity.

And we want contact with superior civilizations?

I suppose if there is any type of silver lining to a species going extinct, it's the fact that once they are all gone, they can never be hurt by us again; never used in Chinese medicine, never displayed in a cage at a zoo, never killed for its tusk. Humans are the worst thing that ever happened to our planet.

We've already had it; there are more civilized species on Earth than humans.

That would be the Dolphins i imagine?

Shame really that they don't have some form of opposable thumb or the ability to produce fire, they could have gone far.

Still be the same amount of humans if not more in a decade. Clean water sources however will be dwindling away to nothing. Better hope desalination technology matures rather sharpish.

WTF would they need with fire, anyway? Everything they need they have in the ocean, or had until humans came along. You could have picked elephants or just about any bird species, as well.

Wonder what Northern White Rhino burgers taste like. If they were really good there would be a million of them

Imagine if the first contact we have is with a intelligent bovine species and they land at MCdonalds?

Well i am a human being and there is only one of me left. I have no children, relatives left. Any concern for me?
yes it's sad any species become extinct. But is that not what nature intends? Natural selection at it's finest?

Not when there is a serious poaching problem with said species.
It's not the natural environment that is killing them, it is men that want their horn.
