And after the gays perhaps the good pastor could target the gypsies, Jews, people with disableities, Polish people, non Aryans ....oh wait, they tried that already.

Same as it ever was....

If Jesus were to return today, I think he would be ashamed of some of the people (not all, mind you) that are preaching in his name.

That's all I have to say about that.

If they believe in a god and in a hell and that god puts sinners in hell for eternal punishment, then why even bother to punish them now?

They put others down in order to feel superior by comparison.

Old trap.

We may be bad, but we're better than those gays. As we skink lower in our culture of depravity we need to hate others more to hide our own growing guilt.

See world domination.

Theres nothing in the book ive read that says anything to this effect........

Infact everything ive read says the exact opposite.........

Maybe he should actually learn that damn thing.............

Thank you.

That's quite a refreshing comment. Merry Christmas!

Its true, I identify as a christian, I use to not for the longest time but , ive had a change of heart over the past year. I do however LOVE to research other religions and philosophies and always have.....

Ive poured through the bible quite a many times......

You can pull a lot of different things out of it, but there are a few things in that book one is "Vengeance is mine sayeth the lord"

I have a strong feeling someones sexual preference isnt going to be on that list considered the utter depravity displayed in this world

Then there are the teachings of Christ which tell us to love another as your brother......

There are many things man has to answer for im sure when we all meet our fate, I seriously doubt that LOVE is amongst those things......who you chose to love with a pure heart doesnt matter IMHO whatever sex that is....

Its not MY lifestyle, but i would never look down on someone for it, and again as the bible says , judgement isnt mine to make

people need to learn to live their faith as a path to love, whatever that faith is.....

merry Christmas to you too my friend

That "preacher" is a waste of DNA and an oxygen thief. I agree, he obviously didn't read his own manual.

Its like reading "Fixing Transmissions for Dummies" and then using Dynomite to fix the problem........not only is it not in the directions, its not logical

Guys an idiot

I made a similar suggestion. It didn't go over too well!

@AngryCymraeg:

He claimed something like "fundamental southern Baptist." There wasn't exactly a lot of productive conversation on the topic..

I am of the belief that the percentage of Christians adhering to their own tenets is minimal. Some more extreme than others.

In my experience, the true depths of this topic are more frequently witnessed by other Christians. Every once in a while an off-the-wall comment is made about/to the general public though.

Calling for the deaths of "sinners" in the name of God is justified from their perspective. Why not? They're going to hell anyway.

Whats crazy is if they read the damn thing, they would have read that were all sinners........they should go first

Really? You need a new book.

If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Of course that same chapter in Leviticus, three verses earlier 20:9 reads:

And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.
That ought to cause the pastor and his flock to pause.

As a matter of fact, there are a whole slew of things God wants you killed for doing. Mostly sex-act related. Strangely though, they all pertain to men doing things. Other than getting it on with an animal it appears okay with God for women to do other women. So the pastor's jihad against the entire LGBT community is unfounded based upon his own alleged God authority. Sorry pastor... gotta learn to read more than one verse at a time. What a dick... with a small d.

maybe its my interpretation........but what I got out of those versus was in reference to that time period......

In that area (not rome mind you, remember they loathed the roman way of life) many people that were found to be committing homosexual acts WERE killed.......and so were adulterers........

I dont see that as a condemnation of god, I see that as a tenant that society at that time would kill them....

Again thats my interpretation tho......

Leviticus is a nasty piece of work… especially chapter 20. We should ask insane Pastor Steven Anderson if be would also endorse the following:

Leviticus 20:9: children should be put to death for swearing at their parents.

Leviticus 20:10: kill the man who commits adultery, and the woman he slept with.

Leviticus 20:11: kill the man who has sex with his mom, AND the mom.

Leviticus 20:11: kill the man who has sex with his daughter in law, AND the daughter in law

Leviticus 20:12: kill the man who has sex with his daughter, AND the daughter

Leviticus 20:14: burn the man who has sex with his wife's mother, and the wife and the mother

Leviticus 20:15: kill the man who has sex with a beast, and the beast

Leviticus 20:15: kill the woman who has sex with a beast, and the beast

Leviticus 20:18: ostracize the man who has sex with a menstruating woman

And in Leviticus 21, God shows that he can't stand the sight of handicapped people, nor should we.

Leviticus 21:17: if you have any blemish, do not approach the altar

Leviticus 21:18: blind, flat nose, lame, anything superfluous, do not approach the altar

Leviticus 21:19: if you have a broken foot or hand, do not approach the altar

Leviticus 21:20: dwarf, crooked, scab, blemish in eye, or injured balls; do not approach the altar

Some pretty heavy stuff there.

So we could imply that Pastor Steven Anderson would want to execute kids who swear at their parents, and if he cut his hand on saturday, and has a scab on sunday, he agrees he can't enter the church.

Thats the thing, jesus also taught that churches really werent necessary....that the house of God was inside of us.....

he taught a personal relationship with god, and loathed those in churches who spoke of god to look good infront of their peers, and were hypocrites behind the scenes...

If you care to follow through on your research (as well as your "gut instincts") and find out that even the Bible is not as clear cut in it's supposed damnation of gays, lesbians, bis, et. al.

Check out some of the actual verbiage between Jonathan and David in the OT. Check out the healing of the Centurion's pais in the NT.

I wonder if this pastor has done any research on the 52 books of the bible, that have been left out of later versions. apparently "god's word" is subject to editing

Hmmm ... now cross-reference with Matt. 22:34-40:

34But when the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. 35Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying, 36"Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?" 37Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' 38This is the first and great commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' 40On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."

That's from JC himself, if His words are, you know, important in any way to actual Christianity ...
