It's true. Like/star forums are always a mess. Instead of good discussion, you get star/like farmers, people who make comments just to get stars, because people see the comments with the most stars and star them just because they're sheep who always go with what's popular/PC comments.

its not even the current events type things that bother me its

1. threads about new tech(or old tech, that the op just happened to fixate on) totally misrepresented as a huge breakthrough.

2. threads about magic

3. outrageous claim threads (we are all transdimensional flowers, says dr. blurb)

4, clickbait threads, usually a copy cat post of something already posted, a long title that is engaging but incomplete with the final word missing, requiring one to click it in order to understand what the thread is actually about. there should be a special button specifically for reporting something so manipulative. i really hate these.

5. partisan rhetoric, politics, race, sports teams, thanksgiving foods, etc. people here are fiercely loyal to something or another and will gladly derail the few remaining interesting threads with pages of multi nested quote drivel in support of their favorite brand of toothpaste while attacking their opponents credibility.

that said the number of good threads is greater than 5% but its definitely decreasing. if you just browse recent it looks really bad though. which indicates that the worst stuff on the site has the most activity.

This always gets me. A member that's been around for a few years. Same as the OP. Readers. Average about 100 post/year. AND then complain that ATS isn't what they want. Get out there then. Post threads of interest to you. Be the change you want.

Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya. You don't like what you are reading then move on. For one thing no ones forcing you to read anything and for another if you start reading something and don't like it then move on. Life is that simple. You should try it sometime.

Star to you sir! I basically come on here to read decent threads whenever one pops up. As far as social issues this place has unrelenting hoards of bandwagon jumpers rife with predictability. Typically if you disagree you're too stupid to understand, a racist, a troll, promoting disinformation, so on and so on. The other day was reading this thread where this genius came on acting all high and mighty with his fancy smarts 'n readin. My favorite word he used in his masterpiece was "genera" referencing a type of music, not some sort of sub species. Doomsday porn everywhere with people that have more want than proof that the end is near. Psuedo scientists promoting the cancer killer cannibis with zero credible evidence and never considering reasonable confounds in their flawed logic. The witnesses to the ferguson incident who are so sure of themselves that they must have been standing there in the street. Cop haters who would call 911 instantly if they were in a jam. Then the misguided anonymous supporters running around in their v for vendetta masks promoting chaos and disorder. I would agree that a lot of the place is full of crazies and whacky posts, but I appreciate it while I'm in my favorite stall at work.

When I was a young guy I used to go digging through old garbage dumps. Places where settlers in the region had dumped their stuff many long years earlier.

You know, one person's garbage can be another person's treasure. Just because it doesn't interest you or you think it's worthless, doesn't mean everyone else sees it the same way.

Personally, it seems like the site has drifted towards a social issue/political sounding board as of late. That may not be bad in itself, but maybe the shame of it is that other subjects in the original spirit of the site are not posted in as much. I personally am going to ditch the political talk and focus more on the UFO, paranormal, lost civilizations forums in the future as they are more interesting anyway. But to be sure all the tumultuous world events right now are steering the discussions more narrowly.

Within that questionable 5% of yours what percentage do you estimate worthwhile threads are closed due to members' inability to be objective?

Well if 95% is complete garbage it is strange how you can come on a conspiracy website and it tells more truth than our media has been doing.Journalism is a total fraud and waste of time in our major media currently.95% is a major exxageration anyways.
