Just don't inflict yourself on me and my life because you're unhappy.

Something about your right's ending where mine begin? Agreed. You seem very reasonable in every thread I've seen you.

-----

Perhaps there is a focus on rioting and looting because there is rioting and looting and even the peaceful protests are getting taken over, fueling mob mentality among those that would otherwise be decent. I'm sure it's all police agitators though.

I would caution other members to not take the bait. Some people may start trolling you and trying to get you to have an emotional response.

No, it's not. They are warned to disperse when some elements get violent. Don't leave? Expect to get gassed and possibly bean bagged in the ass. I'm all for protesting, but not when it gets out of hand.

There isn't a way to safely extricate the troublemakers from the rest of the protestors. It's not safe for the protestors, and it's not safe for the police. People act very differently when they're in a large group. Mob mentality and whatnot. Imagine cops trying to go in and grab the people that are actively throwing things or being violent. First of all, when you have a bunch of people packed together it's going to be hard to find the specific aggressor. Even if you can, other people are going to try and protect them. Then those people are going to get hurt.

It makes far more sense to say leave when a protest turns ugly than to try and weed out just the bad apples.

Glad you weren't around when the British were marching the Red Coats through towns, otherwise we would still be ruled under a monarchy...oh wait..we have Obama

You mean the national guard troops who currently are under state control and not federal? Also known as your state militia? Which the governor has control of? Those troops?

Real citizen protesters don't protest at midnight.

They get permits and pay for security.

This is a property grab by people used to getting something for nothing.

I respect civil disobedience...This is not it.

I've already responded to a similar comment so I'll keep this one short: you come up with a way to safely (for LEOs AND the protesters) extricate the idiots from the peaceful, by all means throw it out there.

Nobody was violent in the area where they were told to leave. They were the previous night but as I watched the coverage when they actually made the announcement tonight, there was no violence.

I'm not talking about where the cop car was torched in front of city hall tonight. In that situation I understand the dispersal order to gain control of a volatile situation. The dispersal order tonight was given to everyone, including protestors who were nowhere near that specific situation.

Definitely not your brother.

And nope. I'm focused on people who want to protest actually protesting. Protest all you want. Just don't inflict yourself on me and my life because you're unhappy.

So be it then.

I understand our country has a deep history of people that also didn't think all the people should have rights, but the country is full of people and history who were willing to fight and to die to insure all have rights, this is what is happening today!!! And its glorious!!

How far apart were the groups? And no I'm not trolling, I have pretty minimal interest in keeping up with the minute to minute happenings. My only thought is that, perhaps, if the groups were in relatively close proximity then yea, they're all going to get shut down because it's a reasonable expectation that one group will just join another. If they were widely dispersed then I don't know why they would order everybody home unless they're just shutting the whole area down entirely.

Yep. Seems like it's working out really well so far. Lots of damage inflicted on innocent parties and no change. That's glorious alright.

Since the rest of your comment reeks of a thinly veiled shot at me, I'm not even going to dignify it with a response.

To be honest I'm not familiar with the city. Though what I saw on the coverage suggests there was a decent distance between the cop car incident and where the blanket order to disperse took place. The reporters who were at the cop car situation walked to a new location after police moved in and took control of the cop car. So the impression I got was they were widely shutting down the city regardless of where you were or what you were doing. Though they are currently assembled peacefully in front of the Ferguson police department so I could be incorrect in terms of the scope of their dispersal order.
