It was a required read for me in High School.
There was an original 'Twilight Zone' episode based on the story.

jacobs ladder is one of my favorite movies.....

i remember when the 6th sense came out and everyone was going nutso over how awesome it was...dont get me wrong, it was good but all i could think was jacobs ladder...been there..done that..did it better

the scene when they were trying to get his fever down in the ice bath....damn...i still feel that

i enjoyed this story though....im not big on fiction...i do read it from time to time.....mostly i stay away from fiction unless its a short story......

one of my favorite short stories ever is 'the man from the south' by roald dahl...

i love that one......and before someone mentions it, the last skit of the movie four rooms is that story

In my junior year English class we watched the film which was adapted from that story. The twist was very well done and I thought it was a really well done story

It's a great idea...whether it's a particularly clever piece of writing or not, I wouldn't know.

Most human beings must have contemplated the idea that our perception of time could be modified in the appropriate circumstances.

Those of us of a certain age can attest that time seems to speed up the older one gets.

It also seems to slow down in life-threatening conditions.

Good story and dénouement.

Bierce is one of the few Victorian writers I can be bothered with.
