Could the Melvins and Screaming Trees be considered grunge? I love music but the only grunge band I actually like is Nirvana. Even then, in small doses.

Brings back memories, enjoyed the unplugged sometimes more than the originals. Cranberries hit big when record companies were promoting "Alternative" after the tail end of "Grunge" as a trend was going around. Seems them more as that really, but kinda Grunge at times.

Both of those bands were grunge before Nirvana was even a glimmer in MTV's eye.
