I agree. It seems that a while back a bunch of liberals got together and decided that they had the right to never feel offended, ever. They also decided that this should apply to everyone, except white conservative males, of course (open season on them). I still haven't found where it says anywhere that everyone has the right to never "feel" offended.

Only people with concrete world views & strong personal belief systems ever feel offended.

Apathy is the true path to enlightenment.

In my opinion enlightenment is reached when someone realizes that free will allows for different opinions and perceptions. For instance someone says to stop doing something, you're offended. Then you tell someone to stop doing something and they're offended.

It's difficult to approach and political correctness only offers an umbrella strategy where it's one size fits all, and individual factors in particular incidents are overlooked by the cookie cutter system. But, eventually political correctness leads to a hugely divided population that fights amongst themselves without ever getting anywhere.

We're forced for the most part to pay attention to certain issues, we're told certain organizations are dangerous, against the public, this politician is evil, that celebrity feels something is wrong in society, etc, etc, etc. But we don't focus that much energy towards issues that truly matter, so the people will continue to suffer under PC.

It's to divide us even further. To distract us from important issues with manufactured crises so we focus our energy on "changing" those situations while ignoring what's really against us.

Yes because good ole' fashion prejudice and racial slurs are sooooo uniting!

It was a step in removing our rights along with no child left behind and as stated above everyone gets a trophy.
If we are all offended our jealous by/of each other we won't work together to stop "them".

If all choices are wrong & evil, why choose?
People need something/anything to cling to & identify with. I find it rather pathetic.

Well if your not part of a minority then your not really going to get it. I know I never got bullied or called names at school for being a straight, white, middle class kid.

It is time to throw "political correctness" into the thrash bin of history where it belongs.

Time to name things by what they are. If that is called "politically incorrect" .. then so be it.

How does the general societal expectation for us not to use sexist or racial slurs cause more prejudice? A collective agreement on what is not okay to say in polite society has always existed.

It needs fine-tuned, sure, but the whole idea of PC is not new nor "bad".

a reply to: LilroanieI could not agree more. We also should be as frank and straight forward about what we say. Such as a politician saying he or she misspoke when they are caught. Simply say they lied. Or when a person does something illegal and it is reported. News always say presumed. If a person is caught in the act or is known to have committed the crime. They DID IT, not presumed.

To look for ones identity in outside sources, or need other people to follow them is indeed pathetic, but no reason to give up. Apethy is no goal and helps nobody, not even your self, Won't make you happy, you know?

The happiness option was taken from me long ago. Now all I can do is wait for the end while politics & correctness are the status quo. Everything about modern existence is unnatural.

I disagree.

It's more like a bunch of overly sensitive whiners trying to dictate what I can, and can't say, to further their political agenda.

The politically correct people (Dems, liberals) are the kids that were always telling MOMMY and the TEACHER on you in the 70s and 80s, now there the haters that hate anyone that disagrees with them.

America is not what it used to be and the socialist/communist have figured out that through the liberal mindset of liberals that they have a perfect way to further there agenda of control of what's left of America.

As usual the irony and hypocrisy on here are just endless. What do you call sometime whining about people whining? I call that a whiner

PC is just a taste of peoples own medicine. If you wanna use a homophobic or racial slur or something, I get to call you out on being a homophobe or racist.

PC was invented to stop straight white males from being able to feel good about themselves for being assholes. It's failed because they don't feel all powerful anymore and got their panties up in a bunch over that or they just retreated further into their bubbles with their fingers in their ears.

This is hard reading.

At it's absolute worst , political correctness is a form of politeness. It's banned the current UK government from using the phrase 'If you want a ni**er for a neighbour, vote Labour'.

Someone having to think before they speak and for it no longer being socially acceptable to be massively racist, sexist, homophobic etc... is a tiny price to pay for the benefits it's granted society.

TLDR; None of you have a clue what PC is.

But I hear more whining from people like you. There is no law keeping you from being a racist or saying whatever you want.

To me, it sounds like people whining about other people not being cool with general ignorant behavior. What's the difference between people not liking your words and you not liking that they aren't liking your words?

All I hear when I get this argument is "Waaaah, I don't like that they don't like it when I'm acting belligerent and mean!"

Political correctness, like most ideas, started off with good intentions, but was then hijacked by the insane and corrupt for their own agendas. The ideas behind it are sound, the implementation is just wrong though.
