I'm from West Virginia and fracking is the boom-de-jour around here. Same as when they had the old oil & gas boom way back when. After the resource dried up, so did the business and my state was left in poverty. We lost Byrd as well, so there goes all that pork barrel money as well.

Most of the money made from this process doesn't go to the state either. In relation to the post, I can tell you that in an effort to hire "local" hands for low wage, the people they have handling this stuff and supervising usually aren't the most experienced. They can be, don't get me wrong, but a good Foreman is like a good Sergeant. In order to give good instruction, you have to have been there and done that, and in "the wild west of Fracking" that we have now, that isn't always the case.
