There are bomb-throwers on both sides.

These types of stories of ignorant people saying ignorant things.

Only have legs if we give it to them.

What brought Jimmy Swaggart down was the fact that he loved the ladies of the night and was preaching against the evils of such activities on Sundays while keeping their company as often as he could and was going to get busted so he confessed live on TV and then slipped out the back..

Typical religious hypocrite.

Being a crook is all part of televangelism...

now now now lets not use cliche stereotypes folks.

Why are LGBT activists not doing this? Because they are smarter than your average Abrahamic zealot, and know the backlash would be horrid. Also they are too busy trying to change things, while a evangelists son seems to need some attention that daddy never gave

For shear entertainment value a televangelist is hard to beat. Benny Hinn is my favorite!!

My gay and lesbian friends in real life know I'd have their backs if needed. They also have thicker skins and a healthier sense of humor than do some I know of here...

Yeah I know, sadly I get the feeling from some other posters in ATS that they fall for the cliche

People can be mean, regardless of sexual preference. Violence begets violence, the abused can become abusers themselves. BUT LGBT is not Isis, they would sooner make up some plan to infiltrate psychiatry than resort to physical violence and use that to get rid of unwanted opinions like religious people.

Coincidentally psychiatry stood up against them some decades ago in court and lost unable to deem it a mental disease. Today, psychiatry states homosexuality is natural. And the general direction of psychiatry moves to material causes (like neurology) rather than spiritual ones. Not that I believe it's a conspiracy but people are not dumb either and it's relatively easy to view the world at a young age and choose to become a mental health worker and it potentially holds a huge power over social engineering and control over what people think.

Swaggart and all of his flock would love nothing more than to rape and slaughter puppies while selling children as slaves. I assume this is because of their rumored heroin addictions, secret worship of Satan, and close ties to Nazism.

There, see how he does it? That was easy!

Interesting that a Pastor would say that when the gay community has never attacked anyone, while the Christian community attacks the gay community for 'sinning.' And there are people of the general public that actually beat gay people within an inch of their lives.

But you know, gay people are the bad ones. >Sarcasm.

I'm PRETTY sure it is the other way around. If people like Swaggert were allowed to, I'm pretty sure THEY would be the ones beheading LGBT's. Wait, there is already precedent for that since it used to be a common occurrence in the South some 40 years ago.

Wait..
what?
Really?
In the 70s it was a regular occurance for gays to be beheaded in the south? Please cite a source or two as this seems like hogwash to me, but maybe I'm just sheltered.

I'm talking about hate groups (mostly with Christian origins like the KKK) and even police who went around and maybe not beheaded gays, but they certainly either beat them severely or hung them. Don't pretend like that didn't use to happen (probably still does happen to be honest, probably covered up better now though). And yes that was as recent as 40 years ago.

A Brief History of Homosexuality in America

Fears generated by Joseph McCarthy's campaign to rid America of Communists eventually led to the neutralization of the Mattachine Society. By late 1954 it was the weak, fully public, assimilationist organization whose main purpose was to convince heterosexuals that homosexuals presented no threat whatsoever to any of their values and were in fact exactly like them but for sexual preference. The lesbian organization Daughters of Bilitis, founded in San Francisco in 1955, did not fare much better, although both groups managed to sustain publications with national circulation through the 1950's and 60's. By 1969, there were about fifty "homophile" organizations in the US , all fairly small.

The main reason for the lack of visibility in post-war America was persecution-religious persecution, discrimination in employment, violence, and police brutality. Non-celibate gay people were condemned by and unwelcome in most mainstream religious organizations not only as leaders but even simply as members. This led the Reverend Troy Perry, a Baptist, to found the Metropolitan Community Church in 1968. Today the MCC is the largest gay and lesbian religious organization in this country and by far the largest in the South.

Discrimination in employment probably ranked as the most threatening type of persecution gay people faced and still face-second only to physical assault in its violence but affecting far more people. Eisenhower's executive order stood from 1953 until 1993. There has never been any employment protection for gay people as there is now for straight white women, straight men, and women who belong to racial and ethnic minorities. Employers routinely refuse to hire gay people regardless of their qualifications and fire any who manage to be hired while closeted.

Still, the ugliest of all forms of discrimination was and is undoubtedly gay bashing, especially when carried out by public officials. Police harassment and brutality have been constant features of gay and lesbian life for decades. Indefinite detainment's, beatings, and public humiliations are only the tip of the iceberg. Lesbian and male drag queens through the 1950s and 1960s suffered frequent rapes and sexual assaults committed by police officers, sometimes inside police precincts. Moreover, police were certainly no help when beatings, rapes, and lesser indignities were visited upon gay and lesbian people by civilians.

It was in this atmosphere of terror and brutality that patrons of the Stonewall Inn in New York 's Greenwich Village resisted a police raid in 1969. The Stonewall Inn was a working class gay and lesbian bar frequented by cross-dressers of both sexes. Police raids were common then and ugly. On the night of June 29, 1969 , police attempted to raid the bar as usual, but the regulars were fed up. As the officers entered the building, patrons barricaded them inside and held them there. Thus began three days of rioting. At one point, it was estimated that the gays held eight square blocks of the city. Word of the riots spread quickly through homophile organizations around the country. It was at that point that what had been since 1954 a rather quiet assimilationist movement became militant.

No plans on pretending that never happened, it certainly did and was/is dispacable behavior. I thought you were specifically referring to beheadings, which I had never heard of. Thanks for clearing that up.

I wouldn't be surprised if one or two happened. Though when Americans want to kill you because they hate your minority class, their goto method has always been a noose.

Nor would I be suprised by a few occurances, but certainly didn't think it was ever a regular occurance. But you are correct, whether one uses a noose, shotgun, or knife murder is murder, and it is always a travesty. I wish our society as a whole could grow up, but I doubt it ever happens.

In all honesty, it wouldn't surprise me. Many of these LGBT activists are more hateful than those they are against. Now I don't believe for one minute that everyone in the LGBT activist sphere are like that, but I swear I've seen (read) and heard more than enough of them that will make your skin crawl.

Sorry, I think he is an accurate representation of many right wing conservative Christian's and their perverted religion of arrogance and hate! I say this from the perspective of growing up in a Texas Baptist environment! ! I thank God for the blessings of logic and tollerance. ....

Your milage may vary.....
