According to NBC’s “The Today Show,” families do not need firearms to protect themselves; instead, they only need some household items and the willingness to cower when confronted by intruders.
Here is their list of the three items for protection:
1. Car keys
2. Wasp spray
3. Cowering

What’s missing from the segment? Give up? Guns. They, at no point, mention defending your family with lethal force from a gun.

The left’s crusade to eliminate firearms from the hands of law-abiding Americans is unconscionable and represents a tremendously immoral crusade to leave good people to be murdered by those who care about ne

It seems as though the left has and will not give up the idea of gun control. Take our guns and let the criminals take over our lives for they will know we as Americans are not armed. I am for gun gun rights. I will not give up my right to Keep and bear arms.

Since its ratification, Americans have been arguing over the amendment's meaning and interpretation. One side interprets the amendment to mean it provides for collective rights, while the opposing view is that it provides individual rights.

" the en.wikipedia.org... "

is the people's right to have their own arms for their defense as described in the philosophical and political writings of Aristotle, Cicero, John Locke, Machiavelli, the English Whigs and others.[1] In countries with an English common law tradition, a long standing common law right to keep and bear arms has long been recognized, as pre-existing in common law, prior even to the existence of written national constitutions.[2] In the United States, the right to keep and bear arms is also an enumerated right specifically protected by the U.S. Constitution and many state constitutions[3] such that people have a personal right to own arms for individual use, and a right to bear these same arms both for personal protection and for use in a militia.

Despite the recent rulings, the debate on gun control continues. When will this debate be put to rest?

If you are committed to finishing this experience and protecting your family and property, a gun is probably not a very bad idea. Unfortunately, as much as I'd like to conjure up a world of puppies and butterflies where absolute pacifism was a practical philosophy, that does not seem to be the world we live in presently.

So is this just breaking to you cause this has been talked about ad nauseam.
So unless today they said it again, and based on the date of the article it was not, hardly breaking news.

I agree this is defense is stupid tho and no this debate will never be put to rest.

Cowering?

effective?

FOR WHO?

The other options are equally stupid, I thought they meant to use car keys as defense at first, hell no, they want to you to set off your car alarm (how biased are they to assume everyone has one, let alone a car?).

What not to do is more like it.

Exactly! It is not the world we live in today because we do still have the right to bear arms. Most criminals knows this. Without any protection other than a can of wasp spray the world could change very quickly.

This debate will never be put to rest. One group wants people disarmed and the other says come get 'em.

Another thing I'd like to add is, I'll never "give up" anything. Whether it's my firearms, dirt bikes, fishing poles or my stash of "slapping monkeys with flaming bunnies" porn fetish... I bought it and you can't take it away!

The only real threat to TPTB is lone wolf assassins. Eliminate personal firearms and they've eliminated much of that threat.

The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

I just received confirmation that someone deliberately messed with the brakes on my truck about an hour ago. It had to be brought in on a roll back truck and they went out about 10 minutes after I dropped my daughter off a few days ago. I know who it was and can guarantee you that should I find them on my property again... They will not be looking at my car keys.

Everybody else can do what they want. Feel free to turn your guns in. Mine? They are staying right here because there is too much dumbassery in this world.

As an ATS Staff Member, I will not moderate in threads such as this where I have participated as a member.

You really think the lone wolf assassins will give up their guns?

My home is pretty isolated, I would be a sitting duck without protection. Plus the 3 things they listed would not help me in any way. I might also say that using a can of wasp spray on an intruder is illegal.

Know why the cops have guns? Because the criminals do. Both of those facts are the reason YOU need guns too. Unless you don't mind being a defenseless victim.

S&F, nothing to add except that they will continue to dish out this brain rot to the dumbed-down masses as long as they are asleep. They'll get one or two more on their side every time they air something like this. It will still be up to us to do the real work when things go sideways while they are in their bedrooms spraying wasps.

what is laughable is the Today Show should know the laws before they suggest citizens use wasp spray.

Before using a can of wasp spray for self-defense, you should check the statutes of your state to see what your federal prison term may be for using wasp spray on a person. In Oklahoma it's no less than 10 years according to Title 21, Section 651, of the Oklahoma Statutes:

Just think if you put together a group of old timers, people who have been diagnosed with terminal illnesses and such, and gave them a list of the 1000 people most effing up the world?

Not that that thought has occurred to me or anything..

You'd think *they* would stop making so many snipers. Everyone I know who was trained during the Vietnam era is not only loaded to bear, but skilled and seething angry.

When I see the security guards at NBC studios cowering to repel intruders, and SWAT teams raiding meth labs with car keys, then I will consider the suggestions.

But it really is not, this is just one site finally running a story on it.
You can go to almost any gun thread and this defense and who said it will be brought up.
This is just a article ran to get everyone wound up before elections.

And to the point of spraying some one with spray being illegal, so is shooting some one if it is not self defense.
When you do something in self defense, lots of laws get grey areas.
Again, not saying this method should be your go to, but the spraying being illegal thing is being taken out of context IMO.
