The problem is with mental health issues we need to better understand, it has nothing to do with guns.

It was a simple observation and nothing more. Every time a large scandal lands on Obama, something just as big occurs and its buried.

Which is it, a gun grab campaign or Obama diverting attention? It's so hard to keep the crazy conspiracy theories straight these days. Oh wait, I forgot, this was so we wouldn't watch Putin's speech. How silly of me.

Couldn't POSSIBLY be that a mentally damaged kid had girlfriend problems, hinted at "something big" for months, and finally made good on his threats.

OH, I almost forgot, he's also an MKULTRA victim. Poor kid, a pawn for SO many conspiracies!

It may not be about guns, but with an anti-gun initiative on the local ballot - I have a feeling initiative supports are secretly happy about the extra support this will create. Initiative 594.

From a non-US perspective, this kind of nonsense happens so frequently that it barely registers as "big".

Could it just be that America is a large and - I'm sorry to say - fairly volatile society by Western standards?

If you picked a day in 2015 right now, there's a strong chance that there'd be s dominant story - and quite possibly a violent one in one way or another.

Anyone else notice that whenever a scandal is about to overtake Obama, something big occurs that pushes it to the back of the line??

Has anyone noticed that EVERY President facing scandal has some big crisis? I remember it clear back to Reagan, and everyone onward. However, this shooting was hardly big, and has nothing to do with Obama or whatever petty scandal his enemies are squawking about. I mean, seriously, I, and just about everyone I am acquainted with, give a rat's ass about Benghazi or Fast and Furious. And I am one of few people who cares about the IRS thing. Only the right really cares about those things. I've paid zero attention to the news. There are more important things going on in the world.

This, however, happened right near where I work.

Right. It's called wagging the dog and is a long running political tradition.

This expression probably originated in the USA. There isn't a specific incident that it refers to that can be located there but there are many instances of it in print in US publications from the 1870s onwards, whereas there are none that come from any other country until well into the 20th century.

The earliest citation that I can find is from The Daily Republican, April 1872:

"Calling to mind Lord Dundreary's conundrum, the Baltimore American thinks that for the Cincinnati Convention to control the Democratic party would be the tail wagging the dog." [Source]

But like I said before, just look at all the news this week...ebola, two attacks on Canadian military, cop hatcheting, cop shooting, school shooting. Yes, I'm sure the president is behind it ALL. *eyeroll

I admire the restraint(except for a few people) that this thread contains. School shootings are exceptionally sad, complex, situations. I'm sure none of us would want to live with the trauma of surviving such an event. It would most certainly psychologically haunt any one involved for years. That's why it gives me a headache to see people call "false flag" on everything that happens like this. Doing that immediately minimizes the event and ends up steering the conversation into government mind controls and secret agendas while in truth we are dealing with human beings.

The thing about dealing with human beings is there are some of who are very sick and angry and find it easier to have snap reactions and commit horrible acts like killing someone else. This has been happening since the beginning of time itself, to blame MK-Ultra and snap off about actors and secret world agendas is not seeing the forest for the trees. The world has always had mentally ill loners and psychopaths. I'm not sure about the rest of you but I've been traveling around for several years in various towns and cities...observing the sociology of people lately, things may be worse than ever truthfully, it seems at time this is world gone mad and some of us seem better equipped to deal with the problems and the pressures than others. Some people just snap and it doesn't take a government mind control ray to make it happen. This is symbolic of a far greater problem..a problem of our times and the human mind.

I could care less about any political issues people want to relate this to..the facts stand there has been several years straight of multiple school shootings, bombings and madness. No-one has taken anyone's guns. This not about politics, wars, or anything else. This a sad event and it has more to do with our current disconnection as a society and the rise of mental illness and pharmaceutical cocktails among other complex things. To pretend that this is not an escalating problem is surely not living up to the mantra of ATS.."Deny Ignorance".

In conclusion I speak as a parent..tonight ..in Washington..in some house we cannot see, there are some parents who just had their entire world changed by this..their children are never coming home and they will be traumatized. The survivors, who are young people just starting out in life will live with a frightened shadow for the rest of their lives. Towns feel scared and confused, this is real, all too real. So my thoughts, best wishes, sympathies, and prayers(if that's one's thing) are with all these people..if we could all care more and point fingers less, we might have a whole lot less of these types of events.

Its funny how some of these people talk.

Oh a shooting? must be planned by Obama!

Clearly, Its not a mentally ill kid that got a hold of gun(because there is no law preventing mentally ill from obtaining one, thanks gun rights activists), its Obama using his golf club to send brainwshing signals to the kid from his vacation in Hawaii, promtpting the kid to go crazy.

The gun death is so common that is all the excuse they can make.

Now don't lump me in with gun control advocates. I'm huge supporter of a person's right to bear arms.

It's just tragic that some people will use any tragedy to push their conspiracy agenda.

Anyway, back to the shooting. So I work every day in Marysville in the mornings, where I take care of my first client. The shooting happened about a mile from where she lives. I was about a half a mile away when it happened, at the Fred Myer up the road. I was leaving and saw a few cop cars speed by. That is not too uncommon, although I saw an ambulance speed by too. Again, not too uncommon in Marysville, though not the norm by any means. When I left and went back to my clients house, I knew I could hear more sirens going, and figured something big was up. When I got back to my client's house and was putting stuff away, she told me they just had on the news that there was a shooting at the Marysville high school. They had after I left blocked the whole area off, it seemed. Later on the news, I heard there was one death, and that the shooter was likely targeting his own family members, his cousins, and that the one dead was a girl.

A bit about Marysville: It's kind of a semi-rural town north of Everett, which is the northernmost town in the Seattle-Tacoma metro area, about 20 miles north of Seattle. It sits right next to the Tulalip Native American reservation, and has two Main casinos. It's mostly Whites and Native Americans, a few Hispanics, a few Asians, a few black people. Parts of it are pretty crappy, though nothing as bad as say Everett or Seattle. Most of it is just small-town America. About the only thing of note about it, other than the reservation and it's casinos, is a strawberry festival. Pretty boring place, really. I've stayed there for a few weeks in the past. While you do have a lot of drug activity there, for the most part, shootings, until the past couple years, were pretty rare. But just last week, there was this guy from Granite Falls, a town up in the Cascades, who went on a shooting spree all the way down to Marysville, all the time he shot at and targeted cops, until they took him down in the parking lot of a church just up the street from where my client lives. He lived, and stated the reason he went shooting cops is was because he wanted to suicide by cop, as he was losing everything in his life.

I have noticed that up here in Western Washington, there does seem to be an awful lot of suicide by cop incidents, a few that seem suspect, but most that seem legit. I wonder if it is the latest suicide fashion. Yes, in all seriousness, Seattle has one of the highest suicide rates in the country, and I have noticed certain patterns as to what methods seem to be "in vogue" more. In the early 90's, O.Ding on heroin was the way to go. Later 90's, shotgun blast to the head seemed to be popular. Early 2000's, it went back to heroin for a while, then moved on to prescription drug O'Ds. Now, for the past 10 years, I've noticed a serious increase in suicide by cop.

More evidence of the covert op:

Police, who had trained at Marysville Pilchuck before....
[The question is when? The day before?]

Sheriff Ty Trenary: his office, WSP, FBI and ATF all on scene.
[The feds always take over the investigation.]

According to one kid who was ten feet away, he pulled a small handgun out, and started shooting kids sitting at his table with a completely blank look on his face.
[The same 'blank' 'expressionless' look is common to all the mind-controlled shooters.]

Just to make sure everybody gets the message:

In addition, Nicole Hockley, who lost her 6-year-old son Dylan, and Mark Barden, who lost his 7-year-old son Daniel in the Sandy Hook school shooting two years ago will be in Seattle Monday and Tuesday to speak in support of Initiative 594, which concerns background checks for firearm sales and transfers. The two parents' trip had already been scheduled prior to today.

See, everybody needs to be mentally 'treated.' After your 'treatment,' you can kiss your gun rights goodbye.

Marysville is among three school districts recently chosen to share a $10 million federal grant for improved student mental-health services, which have been identified as a pressing need.

Incredibly, there was yet ANOTHER active shooter drill in the Seattle area just days before:

www.redmond-reporter.com...
The Redmond Police Department (RPD) spent last Friday(10-17-14) at Redmond High School (RHS) after receiving a call about an “active shooter” .... the call that came in was actually part of an active-shooter exercise. ...
In addition to RHS staff and faculty participating in the exercise, a number of students from the school’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) class and drama department volunteered to participate (aka the "crisis actors").
...Todd said the RHS staff and administration will discuss the possibility of holding a drill with the rest of the student body, but they want to be careful to not throw kids into crisis as some might panic during a simulation.
[In other words, they want to foist an unannounced future drill on the unknowing students. ]

And four days later, they did it again:

www.redmond-reporter.com...
On Tuesday morning(10-21-14), Catherine Robinson's classroom at Redmond High School (RHS) was filled with students laying on the ground, describing various injuries as other students checked on them.
But this was not the aftermath of a major disaster. This was part of the school's new Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) class, in which students are learning how to respond to various emergency situations.
"It teaches people to be prepared for disasters." Robinson... said CERT is a FEMA course ...

I may have jumped the gun I am sorry.

No need to apologize.. I could have made my comments more clear in that I was pointing something coincidental out and not trying to link the 2.
