Yeah, I guess pointing out the obvious is too much. Yours is feed the children type logic. In case you dont get that, like the OP that is beyond you...AND...like most knee jerk reactionaries that arent capable of rational thought or an individual thought process. ....This is like Feed the children logic in that: "Dont prosecute people for stealing funds because "feed the children" feeds children". As if giving a couple pennies from every dollar sent makes them somehow noble people.

Just like these doctors going for a month at most, a week or two or just some days makes them not liable for criminal negligence when they come home to carelessly spread AN EPIDEMIC. BECAUSE, they helped a few sick people....Sure they did. Sure. Because they left when they were no longer needed right..... That makes them just as noble as the people who stay and will probably die. Same thing right?

I agree with some of the above.

It is true that some of the largest philanthropists in the world are also some of the most evil.
They do this to try and stop the massive amount of karma that's eventually going to hit them and to try and hide their shadow deeds so everyone only sees how much they donated or built.
But it won't save them because it's all about the intent of said actions as well as the action it's self.

But if one only has a dollar to give and gives it then both their action as well as intent are good. If one is only capable of helping one sick person then by all means he should do. It shouldn't detour them just because that one won't change the world. It changed that one sick persons life and that's all that matters. One drop of water makes an ocean over time.

Hey I never said lets not help them. I am not blind to the fact that helping stop the spread at its source is proactive.

ALL I am saying is that these people stop acting SELFISHLY when they cut and run back to their posh lives and do so irresponsibly. I dont think that is unreasonable.

Acting like this is not an obvious issue isnt going to help the situation though. We need to freaking arrest these people if they wont isolate themselves and take the necessary precautions to stop the spread of an epidemic if they wont do so on their own.

What they supposedly set out to do doesnt excuse them from what they potentially did at home. EVEN if no one else gets sick, I dont appreciate them playing Russian roulette with other peoples lives.

Also, I will always question their motives since they left when they were most needed. Help, real help is needed now.

I just thought I would add the following since now people have resorted to Obama information management type reasoning and attacks.

I have several people who are nurses in my family. In fact we have a tradition for woman in our family to be nurses or go into medicine. I am not insensitive to real sacrifice. Maybe my families background has something to do with it, but the people who go home early and ditch patients, who ignore moral responsibility are the first to brag about how they help people while screwing over everyone else who picks up their slack. They are also people who go into medicine for the social status or money.

You guys dont think that everyone else who went to Africa to help dont have families themselves or jobs that they could lose if they dont return now? You guys think that they didnt put their lives on hold for this?

What you are doing is like comparing an Mormon missionary who goes to Europe to see the world and to preach to Mother freaking Teresa who is by and far much different than some thrill seeker.

My mother would stay at work and do overtime for the need, not the money and only go home when the job was done. She died of cancer after dedicating her life to other sick people. She didnt even want to go see why she was sick when things started to be noticable. We are workaholics but more than that she lived to help sick people. She would sit with them if no one visited, talked, prayed and helped them in any way she could. The community she worked in in NYC still remembers her. Out of the sea of people...She was just some freaking nurse. THAT is commitment. These doctors who come and go like it was safari to see the world are just like the ones who would clock out early and leave their patients to who ever the hell had to deal with it. The ones who would leave hospitals in poor neighborhoods like the one my mother worked at to go work in nicer hospitals for more money and perks.

I dont give one god damned damn about any moral guilt trip you people try to peg on me for saying this. I am tired of seeing these people get praise for going into a lucrative and acclaimed business. Now they are getting people sick because of the same selfish crap and I wont hesitate to call them on it. I just think is so adorable the way the OP is going into meltdown panic now he can see face to face just a little tiny fraction of what it means to be citizen of a third world country.

However, OP, before you start blaming the so called humanitarians and such, you need to remember the main reason there's even a need for these people to go risk their lives to some of the poorest places of the world is because countries such as yours have been actively keeping such places underdeveloped throughout history so you can profit on them, which means such countries now lack the infrastructure necessary to fight against such potential global catastrophes on their own.

But I guess it was all fine to you as long as they would keep all the dying and the poverty and the illnesses at the other side of the world, but now that you have a little taste of the constant fear these countries have to live under, you want to cast out those who are at least trying to do something to help them.

I guess there's a lesson to be learned here: don't let your government treat the rest of the world as crap as it might come to bite you on the ass one day.

Mr. Town Cryer.... you have not grasped the concept that the US has never had Ebola on our shores till some guy brought it over from somewhere else, and our CDC brought some doctor home for treatment. (I am not saying the CDC doesn't have any of these microbes in storage someplace but we've never had sick patients here) We do expect highly trained health professionals to know what they are doing.
We just don't understand that if these MDs who are over there(the Doctors w/o Borders doc in NY specifically) come back to a major city like NY and ride the freakin subway because the nutbags at the CDC are telling everyone you cannot get it from a subway and yet now we are supposedly tracking down all the people who rode subways or were at the bowling alley....why are we doing this if you cannot get it from casual contact on a subway? Yah guy they just need to be responsible and not go around on subways, in cabs, bowling etc. just like it's a normal day. That's what we are saying. Something is really wrong here. With all the money the US spends on UN programs, why can't we fly these people back to a special decon place where they will be fed until their 21 days is up.
