Same was my question. Why would US attack Russia when its DIRECT interests are not being hurt. US would be more busy bashing the ISIL and AQ rather than playing WW3 with a nuclear power.

Russia is in the process of disengaging from the West and moving further close to East i.e. BRICS.

The Brics bank should create an independent accountability mechanism that accepts complaints and works to resolve them, assesses the bank's compliance with its policies and international law, determines appropriate remedies for anyone harmed by the bank's activities, and advises the bank on how it can improve compliance.

The Brics have an opportunity to be global leaders on development by building a bank that advances rights. If they do not, the new bank could do more damage than good.

Russia and China dont play well with the required setup.

As stated time and again, Putin has lost all touch on reality.. While pro Russians defend Putin, Putin just pulled another about face in his invasion of Ukraine and illegal annexation of Crimea.

So, why did Russia invade Ukraine and annex Crimea? Its not because the people of Crimea wanted it-

“I won’t conceal it that we helped him move to Crimea,” he said. “At that moment, Crimea was part of Ukraine. As the events in Kiev were developing very quickly and violently, it made no sense for him to return to Kiev.”

Putin’s comments mark the first time Russia has said it helped Yanukovych to flee into exile after months of anti-government protests in Kiev. Putin admitted in April that the soldiers who took control of Crimea before his annexation of the Black Sea territory were Russian. He’d previously denied that Russia’s military was involved.

The takeover of Crimea, which prompted the U.S. and its allies to impose sanctions, complied with United Nations norms, Putin said. The transfer of Crimea from Russia to Ukraine under the Soviet Union had been illegal, he said.

So Putin took Crimea because he said it was illegally transferred to Ukraine.

There is no UN standard that supports his claims.

What we have is Putin telling the world he does not want to rebuild the Soviet Union while at the same time he says Ukraines borders were illegal and essentially void because he said so.
